X=Ten: A Review

I finally got X in the mail the other day. Here's my somewhat detailed review.

Intro

-The Poor Boyz logo is a silver/clear this year.

-Oldschool Intro: Really cool but I think it would have been better if they went from State of Mind to 1242, instead of in reverse order.

-Hardcore Intro: Awesome, and it's always nice to hear some Tool.

Tony B-At first I was a bit skeptical when I heard that his track was Bright Eyes. But the seg is so damn sick, and the music goes really well with it. After watching it a few times I'd have to say this is my favorite segment in the movie.

Pete O-Another really great seg. The video game bit was really cool. Crazy tailgrabs and blindside switchups left right and center. And then there's the thong incident...

TJ-Crazycrazycrazy. Amazing Butters all over the place. This guy is nuts in the park.

Sage-Excellent seg. Sage is a great skier and definitely a big asset to this movie. Not knocking on this seg at all, but I'm willing to bet that his part in Soul Purpose will be better.

Kristi-Props on the intro spoof. I liked that. She really stepped it up again this year, especially on rails.

Grete-Holy shit! She is good. We'll see BIG things from her in the future. And that switch landing on the hip... oh so steezy.

-Vinnie D, Niklas, Szocs, and Treadway all had solid segments. Although, I would have liked to see more Treadway.

-Boyd is Boyd.

-DC is crazy as usual. It's a bummer that he lost that ski in the pipe at X.

Chris Benchetler-Short seg, but if you watch his original edit you'll see he's awesome. It's to bad he broke his femur. I think we'll see big things out of him next year.

Candide- Loco Loco Loco. What can I say? It's Candide.

Henrik Windstedt- Excellent all around seg, park, bc, everything is swedish smooth. I also really liked the editing.

Simon- Another awesome seg. Huge 180's all over the place.

Abma-Sweet. This seg and his one in Yearbook blew me away.

Jon-Dissapointing??? NO. So stylie I can't believe how consistently awesome it is. Lack of progression? Cmon people. What do you want, ultra smooth switch cork 1620's? Jon the robot skier...

Overall-This movie's greatest strength is that it is so consistently amazing. Every single part is awesome. The 45 minute running time feels like half an hour or less. The soundtrack got a lot of shit on here originaly, but I really liked it a lot. They must have spent a fortune on it though. Maybe that's why they had that sweet song for the last half of the credits. And, of course, UP1 was worth the cost of this movie alone. You have to see it.

If you can't tell already, I would highly recommend this movie.

But, you can always fall back on your degree in... Communications! Oh, dear Lord!

yeah i was disapointed at first, but i watched it a few more times and now i see how sick this movie really is. olenicks seg is fuckin sick, and the knit thong was great

and more, much more than this, I did it my way

other then pete tj and simon i didn't like the movie at all. and i have watched it a few times. it just didn't have the same something that like, RFA had, or especially happy dayz. i definately root for hi 5 this year.

what was that special something RFA and happy dayz had? those movies were like machines. no soul or creativity. the kinda of format presented in those movies is so static. i hope some day a ski movie will capture the true spirit of skiing. mayube in another 5 seasons or so.

yea i liekd the movie didnt liek the soundtrack cept for the rock parts.. i dunno if its possible but y not make liek 2 movies same movie diff soundtrack with diff types of music. ppl would be happier overall but yea lotsa work

Yeah. Some excellent segs ( Anthony, Olenick, Dumont and Abma) some good ones. ( Jon, Windstedt, Schiller ) I liked the soundtrack a lot more than Session 1242's. There was a lot of nice editing, but not too much effects, so the focus stayed in skiing. Great video!

Schill's was sick. Tony and Dumont held it down. The soundtrack took away from what could have been an unreal film in my opinion.

I think that Jon had a terrible song. I loved TJ's song and that was pretty much the only one that I really liked, and Simon's wasn't bad. The skiing was very good and Johnny killed it as usual but I didn't love the feel of the movie.

However, I just stole it from Dumont and I have only watched it once. There is a good chance that I will like it better the more i watch it. Props to Johnny for gettings ridiculous shots as usual.

But, when I say Niklas, Szocs, and Treadway had 'solid' segments, that means mediocre. Crichton's was sketchy too.

I try not to criticize too much because you don't see me making movies do you?

yeah, i didnt like a few songs but loved other, but i geuss you cant please everyone. i liked tool - the grudge and beck - loser as well as others but thought some sucked. i thought overall the skiing and filming was very good though.

i liked it, olenicks section was best in my opinion and schiller.....and dumont hitting that cable man that is scary shit he also busts out the best steezinist coolest raddest zero spin eeeva. good over all editing was great in places

What trevor you didn't like Kiklas's seg. I thought it was possibly the best even though it was so short. His Sevens were soo smooth it was rediculus. That shifty 3 was really cool and something no one else is doing. And he stomped the piss out of that 9 over the huge Aspen jump. He has really nice style and is so clean in the air. I think you will see huge things from him in the next two seasons.

^I really like Niklas, I just don't think his seg showed what he can REALLY do. The kid has big talent. The seg was too short, but that probably isn't PBP's fault. I agree with you, big things in the next few years, especially with mentors like Jon and Henrik W. riding with him.
