X-mas Camera Help

Hey guyss, i really need help deciding on a camera for x-mas. I have been using a panasonic pv-gs500 and it is a pretty decent camera. I really want to produce a more "Film-like Look" though and i cannot achieve this without additional programs(Which im not sure the results would be good) I am looking at the GL2 and i really like it. It has the 30p which is really nice, not exactly the full effect of 24, but still good. The only concern i have with this camera is the complaints of malfunction errors within a few months. I really dont want to buy something, and then have it screw up on me that fast. The DVX100 would be a dream but its alittle high for my budget. I would kill for that tho. Ive also looked into the Dvc-30, but im not really sure if it is what im looking for. I really like the warm tones produced by the gl2. Ive also looked into the vx's and it seems there a more "Sharp" skater image camera. This is not exactly what im looking for and also does not have the 30p option. Can anyone help me out on this one?

Thankss

From the soundns of it you dont want a VX.I have a VX and it is awsome if you have the money.I wouldnt go with a GL2 tho.Alot of people have problems with them and the DVC-30 is better then the GL2 anyways. If I were you I would go with a DVC-30.It seems best for what you want. The quality on the dvc can be amazing,I have 2 friends with them and they are great cameras, people underestimate them alot tho.

from what ive heard dvx 30 is a great cam if you want the 100 but cant afford it i see the 30 as your best option

gl2's heads have a high probablitity of having to be replaced and vx's break pretty easily

i would defintly go with a 30

well that's 2 people who claim that the GL2 isn't quality durability-wise, but no evidence to back it up. I dunno. I've been really happy with mine and it's been through a lot. I've done follow cam stuff off 50foot tables, i got hit by a kid on a MTB  while taping. The only thing that's been damaged on the camera is the mic, which only got dented from the bike collision. I love it, and would reccomend it to anyone.

That is a false fact.Sony cameras last very long. You might be thinking of the vx1k which is 10years old to begin with and will beak more easier then a vx2k,vx21k.I have never heard of a sony breaking over a canon.
