X is overrated

After watching this movie for only the second time, i have come to the conclusion that it was a minor disapointment. With the exception of Sages section, and Candides section i wasnt really blown away like PBP's last movies; RFA, 1242, Happy Dayz. Those movies really pushed the envelope, whereas this one is very good but doesnt really push nearly as much.

The riders are very talented, there are a few i havent seen in quite a while too. However, since this has that whole 'look where we are at today' vibe, i am surprised there wasnt almost any footage of the Godfather, JF, JP, and even Schad.

The only problem i have with new to the scene skiers is that they seem to not have found a niche quite yet, like tanner hall before gorilla steeze, or even before the phils without their quebec style of japan airs, etc.

Its still a great movie, but it wasnt as entertaining as lets say Scandalous, or 1242 and wasnt as stylish as RFA or Royalty. After all the hype i have heard about this movie, i'm not sure if it really delivers to be the best, the culmination, etc. The quality of riders have improved, the tricks have evolved, people go higher, but compared to other improvements from past PBP titles, it was disapointing.

true i guess but still a really good movie

When i grow up i wanna be a ski patroler and bitch at those crazy kids with skis that turn up in the back and who ski backwards.... its dangerous you know
 
finally. i have been waiting for this thread forever. X was a great disappointment. the entire movie was a mistake, with the only exception being the skiing itself, which was the best out of any movie. but seriously, the editing was piss poor, the song choices for the most part made me want to actually throw up, the segments had no unifying themes whatsoever...i could go on and on. but in conclusion, it was a brutal attempt at a ski movie.

I'll have to agree with you guys on this one. I've only watched this movie once simply because I have no desire to see it a second time. If i feel like watching a ski movie, there are about 6 other videos i would watch before this one. It just doesn't do anything for me. The skiing is pretty decent but the overall vibe is just not at the caliber of many other movies this season.

i thought olenick's segment was hilarious. though i do agree it didnt go right with the theme set at the beginning of the movie, i still enjoyed it.

I just bought both 1242 and X. I was slightly dissapointed in X, but not with 1242. I found RFA to be much better (more cohesive editing, better music albeit not that great, etc) than X. I agree with the poster: there was no cutting edge material and the skiing wasn't ultraprogressive. I could just be expecting too much too soon in regards to the skiing, but that doesn't mean the editing was good. I love ski porn either way though and the skiing was GOOD. I don't make ski movies either so I have no room to be too critical. Stay gay, fuckers.

I am in the same boat, X did not live up to the past PB films. I know I turn to 1242 ofr RFA alot more than X. I really do not like the songs that they chose for X, they distracted me from the skiing. 1242 really brought up my expectations and I was pumped only to be let down. Lately I've been enjoying Redtape, the guys at Plehouse did a real good job with that one, although more chill than other movies it's put together very well.

What I am wondering is... What has happened to all the people that thought X was simply marvelous. There should have been about 90 people who said shit like, 'your gay, X is Yay' and 'you suck'. But wow, this is way better. As for me, I have no comment, but I liked X.

^Evan Raps brought that movie so far down. I would never show any of my friends wski106 just for the fact that Raps is in it.

personnaly, i wasnt a huge fan of either, but if anything id go for X, dubski was too fucked up for me
