X grabs

does anyone boycott crossing their skis?

i think x grabs are lame. just a matter of opinion, but i think the worst looking grabs are the crossed ones.

pollard and a few others i know try to steer clear.

In my opinion any grab can look good depending on how it's thrown and held. Some spins look better with certain grabs. Crossed grabs are fine, they just have to be steezed out. By the same regard, any grab can be ugly as fuck. Depends on the skier, really.

i love the X, i think more skiers need to just do X with no grab like t-halls d-spin 10 in happy dayz.

the ability to cross up is what gives skiers so much diversity of style in the air. boarders have more rail tricks, we have more grab options.

snowboarders have just as many if not a lot more grabbing options than skiers do.

the diversity comes in skiing switch, in my opinion.

i think crosses look sick, especially tweaked and off-axis. but none of them look bad unless they arent crossed very much.

crossed grabs r the shiz I'm not say non crosses r gay at all I think all grabs r sick cept for the ones when one leg is alot noticably higher than the other, unless it looks sick haha

Leading tail/blunt, Leadng mutes, high/tip mutes, and regular tail/blunt grabs look sick and are fun.

i think its fine as long as it isnt a mogul cross with out a grab. like crossing in a backflip, it looks lame and its pointless

gaysest thing I heard today, so ur saying since it's original to skiing and not like a board sport thing its gay?

when you're legs and skis are all symmetrical, i think that looks sooo much better than any x grab.

i dont like x grabs, i'm not against them, i just choose not to do them, because i think non-crossed grabs look much better and i feel it requires more skill to stay symmetrical.

he means, its obvious when a skier is going switch, where its hard to tell when a snowboarder is. which, i think, makes skiing look a lot more diverse. for once last year i was excited to see skiing out do a snowboard event in the x games, the halfpipe. andreas hatveit going that big switch in the pipe, i dont think snowboarding can touch that right now. and skiing can still progress a lot in that area.

and arguing about who has more grabs, skiing vs. snowboarding is lame. its the same and if it isn't who cares.

I am a fan of the tweaked mute. It has been the shiznit since the beginning! Although I love lazy japan spins.

if its tweaked out as hell, then its nice, if im watching a video and i see five billion of them then the video gets boring

umm yeah

it only looks dope if its straight up crossed like this --> +

all four angles of your skis crossing are 90 degrees, or else it can look gay and oldschool

my guess is that grabs on skis originated from skateboarding, and when spinning in a halfpipe on a skateboard you pretty much have to grab to keep it with you.

what i meant to say was...grabs have been around in every sport that involves an extra piece of equipment that you ride on, to say it comes only from skateboarding is just silly

no. mutes were one of the first grabs, but just the concept of grabbing is what was innovative.

so far this has been 2 yea vs. 49 nay.

come on, more nay people!! x grabs are lame they dont look half as smooth as symmetry.

dude X grabs alone are like the heart of freeskiing... those tricks make freeskiing pretty badass in my opinion

ex. crossed up nose mute = badass
