X-games womens grand prize!!

to quote your initial post, "Tell me what you think..."

I think your crazy. But hey, if you really want them to start earning pay equity, make them wear short skirts like womens tennis... sure gets ratings, and thats what the X-games wants in the end for its 20K.

girls cant ski. i dont think they should throw away money like that, if they keep the limit low and girls prove themselves to be capable of doing something really good and nice then they should think about raising the bar on cash prizes. cause what the guys will have to throw down to earn that money and what the girls will have to throw down is wack

The prize money has nothing to do with the level of skill...it is a measure of how much money the competition brings to the mountain/espn etc... Compared to the amount of money going around with TV contracts etc..10/15/20k is nothing, so why not make them equal? I'm sure just as many people come out to watch the girls as watch the guys.

no offense to girls but they are in no way at the same level as guys. Not even close. I find it kind of annyoing acctually when at a competition girls get the same prize money as guys. I've seen girls who never ski pretty much win hundreds of dollars just cause there was only 5 girls in the event, none of them doing anyhting good, when there's so many guys working their asses off and going home with nothing. Girls you need to grow some balls

no offense, but women are no where near the level of mens skiing, even in the amature catagory... they just plain blow and have no style in pipe.

if they get just as much money they sould get just as much coverage. They'll be lucky to get five minutes for total X games coverage while women's snowboarding gets close to complete coverage.

its not fair when a boy can bust every bone in his body, skiing in pain everyday, and not win more than a couple hundred in comps, meanwhile alot of the girls winning so much money and getting paid by sponsors arent doing shit for the most part. I give super duper props to kaya. shes been skiing for like 2 years and has progressed at an extremely MANLY pace. but everythgin that cruz said is true

Yeah exactly, I mean, people are winning tens of thousands of dollars for knowing simple trivia on most game shows like Jeopardy and others. That's like saying that Person A who won a game of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire is on the same level of intellect as Mensa members.

Girls are fucking terrible as a whole, so far as skiing ability/performance is concerned.

Are you serious? womens events are definetly NOT on the level of the guys, and because of this I guarentee that not as many people watch the girls events as the guys. LPGA? WNBA? Womens soccer? Girls Lacrosse? Womens Hockey? none of those are even close to the guys version of the same sport. sure there are exceptions now and then like anika sorenstam on the LPGA, but it is rare.

God... would you please just shut the hell up? The only reason that this is even an issue is because you are making it one. 99% of the guys on here don't give a flying fuck how much prize money a girl makes compared to a guy, and the other 1% of the guys who do are douches anyways. So please just let it go, the only person on here who cares about this is you.

I think it's sick that chicks rip. Two of my best friends are girls that totally rip. It's sick that they're also getting 20G's for pipe. I think it's a bit too much seeing as fir a girl to win it's not terrible hard. Like, Think of how many people a guy has to be better than just to place at the Open, or be invited to the X-Games. In order to be a guy and get your name out there you have to be damn good. With girls, there aren't that many, so there is so much room for any random chick to get noticed. Like Kaya. She slays so hard, and it's her second year on skis. I think if you're a girl, talent, and driven you can be towards the top of the skiing game after like 2 or three years on skis. With guys everyone keeps progressing so much that it's hard.

that was a horrible paragraph.

yeah..that bit was definitely a stretch....it was more that so few people watch any of this stuff that's its not that bid a difference.

It's completly unreasonable for girls pipe to have the same prize money as guys. One it's a bad financial descision on espn's part; girls pipe was barely televised the event is not really gaining anyt of that 20 grand back there, it's simply just taking away from other events. There is no way girls deserve anywhere as much credit for what they do nevermind as much income. It's a complete joke. Oh, and the girl that started this thread is a dumb bitch.

well thats cool that they get more money this year, but isnt the point of this thread that someones bitch is out of her kitchen and games is supporting it. i think everyone has kinda missed the point

lols they dont even show it on tv, they show clips for a grand total of 30 seconds.

plus they only get half the amplitude of guys, also hardly throwing anything technical.

definitley not worth 20 grand.

this has probably been said before but i dont wanna read it.

you cant agrue that the top men are way better than the top women in skiing right now. but the prize money should always be equal.

shit i pressed enter to soon. oh well thats my opinion i wont go on a rant like i was going to

As far as I know, there is no Womens slope at X yet. That seems like a bit of a descrepency gender wise, if you ask me.

Well I was reading some other threads and I found this....

did i ever say that men and women are equal? I think not so... I don't know what you are talking about. Of course there are differences men go much bigger in the pipe and everything else. but that has nothing to do with the way they scored the women.!

I love TEDDI!!"

And for those of you that think I am making it up, it is the 5th post in https://www.newschoolers.com/web/forums/readthread/thread_id/275457/

so that is all i have to say,

Man, you are inspiring...

And come on, it makes no sense to argue about this. Its OBVIOUS that men are better... However, I am not sure if they should receive a different amount of money since i'd say that it is as hard for women to throw a specific trick as it is for men...In other words, men and women are challenging themselves to their maximum abilities... It is not comparable between them.

men that are barely ams, much less pro-ams could match those girls in the pipe or slopestyle. Theres guys at creek that will never think of being sponsored that could get a higher score then those chicks, so boring to watch.

yee man, there was this one girl at this pipe comp i was at, her one run started off left side five to about 8 feet out...then closer to the end she pulled a right side five then a left side seven, n i was like DOPE! i wish i could do that in pipe, sarah burke was there too, i would have really thought that that girl would of beaten her if she didnt fall in the finals, but still props to all the girls out there who throw down, and are learning to throw down

i dont think you can compare the purse to the skiers really. its not like they are saying girls get 20,000 cold wet stinky cash dollar bills for being at the same level as the guys. its more of the sponsors saying get out there, get your name out there, get our name out there and if you come on top you get a special slap on the ass, a big check, and we sell more.

girls are no where near the guys. its the sponsors paying for the purse. not the ability of the skiers.

to add what i was saying, i read in a freeskier mag that the girls of skiing want more reconision, which sure i would have to say makes sence, but for Lhmr-skibebbe to say, not directly, that we are blind and women are as good as men, is, like everyone else saying is wrong, im sorry but as was said by other ppl, i havnt seen a girl throw down a 20G, but still im not dissing girls skiing, props to all them, just theres one girl that i ride with and shes good, and she could be better, but the mind set wasnt there, like i saw her do the coolest mute 7 ever, and she didnt mean to and im pretty sure she wouldnt have if she did mean to, so i think that theres an indication that girls can do a lot better than what they are now

Oh my god your point is so completely wrong. Your saying that just becuase the girls are now getting the same amount of prize money, that makes them comprable in skill to the guys. SO WRONG. Everytime you make a thread about girls in skiing you overstate everything and then try to play it off by acting like your laughing at everythig and calling all of us losers for carring. If its that big of a deal to you, then go do something about it instead of posting threads purposely creating flame wars.

I disagree, women and men are comparable but on different levels, people aren't necesarily saying that women should be throwing 12's in the pipe, BUT people are saying that women skiers NEED TO PROGRESS to be taken seriously (and recieve equal prize money). The way it stands right now I think its completely absurd that women are receiving 20k for coming in first in pipe.

maybe we didn't watch the same tv coverage of x games. But I swear that on the tv I was watching, Dumont went higher than 8 feet out on at least a couple of hits. Er, every guy went higher than 8 feet out on every hit. Maybe my TV is fucked up.

there are quite a few people in the skiing world right now who don't give a fuck about "what x-games thinks"

they should get the same money. The guys arent gettin paid per trick, they're getting paid because they got first, they got rated best male in superpipe. The girls might do as good but first place is the best girl, regardless the tricks

that is cool and all but when was the last time you saw sarah burke huck a cork 5 25 feet out?

or do a switch cork 7/10

or a 1260

or get higher than 12 feet out?

ya didnt.....

so as much as its nice for the ladies to have a large cash purse.. it isnt quite as well deserved

Its a fact men are more stonger/faster in general and have more balls, ect.

However I think what women are definetly steping it up,

although there are fewer of them)

Its like comparing apples to oranges.

They deserve the recognition and so if they get the same amount of cash good for them. maybe it will intice more of them to get into the sport.

Has anyone seen Kari Tra slam a mogul course and do corked 7's

well 5 years ago that was unheard of.

so all you kids shut the f.up and encourage them to progress.

They try to the best of their abilities and thats all that matters. They are all better than most of you anyways.

So maybe you kids should get out and practise more, or have a sex change and than you can actually win some comps. :)

haha ive thought of that, it would make things a lot easier...but then i got the thought of all the female hormones making it so that shit seemed harder or scarier...so i changed my mind....just gota go balls to the wall more n hope to god that i land the stuff i huck....
