So for all you losers that think that girls are not on the same level as men, you are all wrong!

THE GRAND PRIZE FOR THE WOMEN'S SUPERPIPE IS $20,000. THIS IS THE SAME AMOUNT AS THE GUYS GET FOR THEIR SUPERPIPE!

All of you guys that thought that girls aren't good enough, well I guess you guys are wrong. Because the people at the X-Games sure think so.

if you think the girls were even half as good as the guys you haven't watched snowboarders before. The girls get 1/4 of the amplitude and if they touch the board in an attempt to grab its considered groundbreaking. I admit Grechen Bleiler and Torah Bright had a few decent hits but other than that it was weak.
 
while this is true^^^ from where the sport was and where its going there is no way in hell you cant say its not progressing

I think the top guys will always go bigger and throw down harder than the top girls
 
Thats fucking bullshit. women in skiing are a complete joke, except for the top 4 girls. Grete Eliassen, Sarah Burke, Kristi Leskinen, and Kaya Turski are good, but even so, they aren't half as good as most amateur men skiers. Why the fuck should you get paid more for doing not even half the trick technicality or height that guys do? And why the hell does the ski industry sponsor you if you can't even switch seven???
 
Didn't Grete's pipe run consist of like two 540s and some straight airs; while Hall did a switch 720, flat 5, and some 900s or 1080s.

fuck you guys took what I said way outa context. What I ment was, so what if they get the same prize money, their not throwing the same stuff at all. If a girl does a trick thats completly mainstream for the guys its considered ground breaking. The fact of the matter is that the level isnt the same at all.

and I know there are girls that could whoop my ass when it comes to skiing, im ok with that

ya really, i can throw down as hard as alot of the women, in skiing, not like sarah, grete, michelle parker, kaya, or keirsti. but then most guys who actually try to progress are better than most pro/am woman
 
well i have a very tough time believing that, although it is difficult (for the time being) to find anything about the prize money. But considering that womans slope is much newer than mens, less watched, talent that resembles the paleolithic age, smaller field, etc, it seems like unlikely bullshit. If it is true, then there is some unjustice going on.
 
hahaha, damn right brother, girls should just give up on skiing and stay in the lodge and look cute. Then bring us beer when we decide to take a break from riding
 
Are you fucking kidding me? If you're blind enough to think that men and women are at the same level and then dumb enough to argue with the people calling you out, I should just kick you off the site right now.

Have you watched any competitions in skiing ever? How about the US Open that just passed? Please explain how women came even close to the men in any aspect of competition in the entire history of newschool skiing.

I don't want this to turn into me saying girls suck, but you simply can't compare the skill levels.

 
i'm all for girls progressing the sport and making a name for themselves, but until you they are doing cork 5 truckdrivers 20 feet out of the pipe or switch 7s and 10s in the pipe, or how about a kangaroo flip, you cannot compare men's and women's skiing at all-

regardless of prize money
 
do you actually believe that women are at the same level? Have you ever seen candide, simon dumont, tanner, pete olenick, etc, etc, ski?
 
just because the female get as much money as the male competitors does not mean they are anywhere near the same level..
 
I am glad to see girls get some added motivation. No, they are not on the same riding level as the guys. However, they are pushing each other to progress and if the money helps, then OK. Torah's run last night in the snowboard superpipe was really tech, and she stomped everything. I thought it was impressive, guy or girl.

And the thing is, girls aren't really progressing. With the exception of Kaya, I haven't seen one girl do some groundbreaking new trick in almost forever. Sarah Burke has been doing 9's in the pipe for what, like 4-5 years? The rest of the field hasn't really done anything either. I bet some top slopestyle runs from 3-4 years ago could still place top 3 today, and don't even get me started on pipe, because that seems like it's in even worse suspended animation.

Now about Kaya. She shows just how unformidible the women's field is. Think about it, when a relative newcomer can step up and dominate the rest of the field (when she's not hurt) that says something about everyone else.

Again, like cko said, I'm not trying to trash womens skiing, just making a point. Girls, if you want to see a change, DO SOMETHING. I guarantee ANY OF YOU could be sitting with the top pros in a season or two if you just practiced, committed, and stopped worrying about posting pictures of yourself on NS (not that guys are any better). Far too often the girls I ski with are intimidated by the smallest features. Yes, you don't have quite the testosterone levels guys do, but you can still charge it. Bruises go away, sprains heal, broken bones mend themselves. Getting hurt is part of the sport. Deal with it.

I think girls skiing has huge potential, but girls have to step it up. Bigtime. Maybe Kaya will start whipping the others into shape, maybe it will be one of you who realizes that they can do it... but until then, I really don't see womens skiing going anywhere.

Obviously girls are not on the same level as men, that's why they have never done - doubles, 1260s, back to back 900s, 1080's, flares, alley-oop flatspins, flatspins, switch 900s, etc. etc.

Not saying that to be critical of girls, just pointing out what should be blindingly obvious to anyone with half a brain (even a small one, like a squirrel).

Anyways, I think it's good that they get 20G prize money, they need to be supported and they are also one of the fastest growing demographics in sport. I fully support girls pushing themselves and throwing down, and it's good to see that ESPN does too.

But really, go ask Sarah, Grete, Kaya or any girl if she believes that she is the "same level as the men", and I'm sure she will laugh in your face.
