X-games vs. U.S. open

As far as I am concerned the big venue for core riders in this sport would be the u.s. open. No hype all core riding. However the x-games seems to be giving the sport some much needed publicity, but is it the wrong publicity? If during the x-games they show old clips of moseley and he gets pre qualified for slopestlye and halfpipe is that really the publicity we want? THe x-games have a place in our sport but the ultimate venue for riders I think is the u.s. open. where it is a skiing only event that has halfpipe slopestyle and big air. This year in an effort to maintain the open's credibility as a main stream contest freeze has sold the video rights to TBS so hopefully the image that is portrayed to the naive public is not an image of moseley, it is the best damn riders in the world competing for the most prestigous win of the year.

THOUGHTS?

Tanner is in commercials for the X games this year. I havent seen any with moseley.

My girlfriend told me to shove my skis up my ass

Ok... i think that the U.S open is a better event for skiing because it is all skiing... However, the xgames have more sports which bring more people to watch it which means more publicity for skiing because the big snocross fan might catch the slopestyle comp and say that it is really cool. As for old clips of j-mo... who cares a couple clips of him is mearly a fraction of the air time skiing gets in the x games so i think people especially those who are not aware of newschool skiing will remember the entire competition and not just those few clips of j-mo. ONe last thing, i think the slopestyle coarse is better in the x games so i would have to say that i like the x games alittle better over the us open.

I wasn't trying to say that the x-games was a bad comp, I just thought that even the idea that they invited moseley to compete in both events is a knock on the overall style of the event. You would never see moseley pre-qualified for the x-games

NO... he means that J-Mo wouldn't have a chance if he actually tried qualifying for a spot, instead of getting it handed to him by a committee. There are hundreds of guys out there who would throw down bigger and represent the sport better in the X-Games than J-mo.

I agree, the U.S. Open is THE core event for our sport (followed closely by the WSI), but the X-Games gives us publicity... and for that I'm happy.

x-games = publicity = i got to watch on tv but now if tbs is gonna carry the open it will get huge

Gotta love the midwest

like march 12...on tbs. my racing friend just told me that ESPN tells the guys what tricks to throw. any truth to that??

freeskiing- its a way of life dumbass

J-Mo did win the US Open one year though..although I agree he shouldn't be in this year's X-Games

I think soon the WSSF will be on its way to becoming as large as those events especially now that skiing is headlining over snowboarding.
