X-Games: Ski slopestyle vs. snowboard slopestyle

Anybody else think skiing slopestyle was way more progressive and technical then snowboard slopestyle, especially on rails. The snowboarders were not doing crap on the rails compared to the skiers, i think shaun white was one of the only riders I saw 270 on to a rail.
 
Yeah, the skiiers were much better on rails. Might have had something to do with the speed though becuase we can't really push if we slow down. The double cork 9? or 10? was pretty sick though

lol the rodeo 9 the one guy did on the step up just looked like proper cork he didnt go inverted at all but they hyped it up soooooo much (snowboarding obiously)
 
Yeah i noticed that, they just slid the rails, skiers did like dub switch up, switch 630 on, 450 on.
 
I think gagnier coulda stepped it up on the rail.

I think he did like a sw. lipslide but compared to the videos ive seen of him and skimatic, his rail tricks sucked in x

but yea, skiing was way better but they still get more airtime
 
yea i was just on transworldsnowboarding.com watching few clips of the slope style and they said they ad to make the jumps smaller because the snowboarders werent getting enough speed
 
the slopestyle was vastly better for skiers. Snowboarders, asdie from a trick or two, were keeping it so conservative. The rails were a bore fest. Skiers on the other hand...

And the pipe...

The announcers dont have shit to say, so they keep saying that they are so excited, yet the boarders are going... maybe 10 feet out? 15 max on first hits? Its rediculous. Skiing gets schunned, but maybe its better that way.

skiers def better on the rails, but u know whats funny.

snowboard best trick was won by a 10. sound familiar.
 
Note, at the top, the boarders were hitting the rail and candide and sammy opted for the box....hence the double switch ups to 270 out...
 
but even if the boarders hit the box instead, do u think they would do anythin techy like that? or just boardslide, maybe 270 out?
 
The main problem was speed once again. Miss one landing and you're fucked for at least two other jumps. Also, the money booter was pathetic. Should have been a bit bigger in my opinion, the lack of airtime really cramped what could have gone down in both arena's.
 
the skiers definatley killed it on the rails, but it was kind of a toss up when it came to the jumps. Travis Rice's Doulbe Rodeo 1080 was prolly the coolest trick this year.
 
watch danny davis qualifying run on expn.com, he should have won the comp with that run for sure. Your opinion will be changed on this thread subject once you see him
 
SB pipe was boring some of the riders would just striaght air the first hit. In skiing that is one of the most important. Plus the knar factor is way higher in skiing :)
 
ya I can't believe how fast skiing is surpasing snowboarding. It's not like the whole thing where snowboarders are just more focused on style than skiiers cause most of the skiiers had better style than the boarders to. Maybee skiing movies will finally start to surpase snowboarding movies
 
It is really interesting, after pretty much establishing how unimpressive snowboarding pipe/slope/"best trick" was, that the fine people at ESPN decided for the "Top 10 Moments of Winter X" to include almost entirely snowboarding runs, with the only pipe or slope skier to be tanner at #3. Pretty fucking pathetic but the man hates skiing.
 
Fuck that. Andreas' Rodeo was so smooth and just looked so good. His run was way better that any of the skiers. It was just so much smoother and he really stomped the piss out of every landing. His 10 compared to all the skiers' even Candides was way cleaner. He held the grab longer and landed better. As for the rails who the fuck cares rails are gay.
