X games finals only this year

so was looking at the x course gallery they just uploaded and noticed something odd. slopestyle and pipe are all finals only with 12 invited. which seems a bit bullshit considering Henrik, Woodsy and Oystein are the only Europeans invited this year for slope. X-games is obviously going to a more and more commercial made for tv spectacle than ever before. the finals only format would also make it harder for young riders to break through on a big scale.

with the hour onlyish winner takes all limited field i don't think im going to be watching this year.
 
There are like 6 xgames locations nowadays though. They probably had to cut something to be able to manage everything else. The big moneymakers are the summer xgames so it makes sense they cut down some winter x stuff. It sucks though I didn't even think of younger pro riders when I saw the changes they made
 
Right, because if its not being televised, it never happened... Stupid gapers, there is still qualifying.

no there is no qualification round this year at all. just a 12 man final thats it.
 
Xgames has always been a small invited field, not much has changed. Usually it's like 16 then an 8 man final, if you don't wanna watch it go ahead, i bet you're still going to though.

I don't like that there aren't qualifiers either. I thought there were more competitors in the past.
 
There is only a final this year. 12 guys (and 8 girls I believe) for Slope and Pipe. From an athletes perspective the final only is awesome, X Qualifiers was the worst! Yah, it is tough to get into the event but nothing has changed, it has always been hard to get into X. Euro X Games in Oslo will be a bigger field, and with that will likely have Qualifiers but quit with the hate and enjoy the show... most people never even watched the qualifiers anyways.
 
Sw2 pretz 4 .....dub 10 .......right dub 12........switch left dub 12. A few will throw triples in the last jump. There you go....now you don't have to watch it.
