X games big air

It would be sick and entertaining to have the riders be:

Delorme throwing a no-grab switch 10 shifty

Vanular throwing a nose butter cork 9

T-wall, Andreas, Sammy C. and Henrik throwing dub 12's, with different grabs of course

Dumont throwing a dub front superman

Casabon throwin that sw. 10 shifty

Turpin doing a tripple flat

Laurent doing a sw. 7 screamin seamin

Nick Martini throwing a screamin seamin flatspin

Hornbeck throwin rightside rodeo 7

That imo would be the coolest most fun big air comp to watch. T'would be sick, unfortunatley wouldnt happen

It does look sick when guys are doing dubs, but also can get a bit stale when everyone is trying to do the same thing. Personally I love slopestyle, and hope that one day they will make like a mega-slopestyle that is really long with heaps of hits and rails and possibly natural terrain thrown in.

the problem is all in the judging. we need a change in format for that. give style and creativity the same amount of weight as technicality. Nah mean?

@hornbeck;

It will be a lot more fun to watch the x-games big air than seeing you guys doing switch ups to hip hop music in some shitty edit on youtube...

"i came up to the jump and was like, wow i feel really tired, so when i went for a double i thought i was gonna die... then i landed it so its all good." - Jon Olsson

God Damn it he's so good!

When you man enough to not stand behind an alias you need to post under your real name, post your location, and hopefully your within driving distance of la familia.

Thata what i thinks so kool bouot freeskiing. U got people who shred rails and park and people who rip backcountry and people who bring unique styles and people who do it all. Everybody is different and brings a different aspect to the sport. I respect every part of freeskiing there is. Well except ski blading!

not hating here, but if ANYONE other than hornbeck made this thread, their asshole would be ripped open by now, NS is just a huge dick sucking web site, this thread couldnt have been proven any more wrong, big air went off with the craziest dubs ever, yet everyone here is saying "oh hornbeck your SO right!", i understand wat he is saying, but big air is the biggest thing skiing has to its name right now i would say, which is awesome for skiing!

Well if you look at when the posts were made you'll see most where made before the comp went down, and I doubt a lot of people even imagined it would go down the way it did.. Kinda waiting for hornbeck to get back in on this thread..

Yeah but its not like someone said "looks like mike hornbeck was dead wrong" instead he took a jab at hornbecks edits which are way cooler than anything 99% of newschoolers could ever make.

The format was really good. They should do that at other contests.

Although that must have been harder on the judges. They messed up pretty bad giving Bobby a perfect score so early.

i don't know what you guys are talking about. last nights big air was so sick. Bbrown with the switch double misty 1440? schiller with the 1620 with a grab? and Elias,,, that crazy fucker and his switch dub 1440... ridiculous and raising the bar every year.

so i can understand why this thread was made in the first place... being that it was the xgames and text to win is cool for them. But damn everything about this big air, the comp format, the skiers, the jump being pretty sick (smooth move Jon you fucked up)... it all came together into one of the most progressive 20 minute blocks of skiing that has ever happened.
Mad props to Brown and Schiller, gonna have to rethink the whole sport after that.

From PK's blog:
And I don´t mean me not blogging for like a month, event though I am truely sorry for that. I don´t know what it is but when im not skiing I just stop blogging as well. but im gonna try to get a grip now.

Allright, quik recap of what I´ve done since my last post. I went back home for Christmas. We had some snow issues so the park got up pretty late and when it got up it wasen´t built till it´s fullest potential. Allthough I didn´t do that much skiing during christmas I did manage to sprain my ankle. It got so much better so fast so I thought it was one of those one week injuries, so I packed my bags and headed over to Colorado. after almost a month in the US and 2 days on skis I can see now that it wasen´t.

Now Im in Aspen for the X-games, and what I mean by the headline for this post is that it happened a lot since I got hurt.
So much sick skiing going on. and since I´ve had like 3 good days of skiing the last 10 months (I actually counted the months today) all the guys are a little out of my league right now. And my ankle is´nt really a 100% yet, it hurt´s a bit when I do rails and big sw spins. But im glad to be here, meeting all the guys that I haven´t seen for almost a year and just having a great time.

Tomorrow is qualifyers and I think I did one trick today at practice that im planing of doing in my run, so I Can´t really see me coming near of qualifying. But the moral about this story is to have a super fun time, all the time - quote Eric Cartman.

Last I wan´t to give a shout out to Bobby Brown. dub cork 12 to sw dub misty 12. sickest thing I´ve ever seen. clearly a favorite with Andreas and Tom

Peace out!

There is nothing wrong with skiers being able to do those tricks. but at the same time I would have been sooooo much more stoked if someone just did the most massive zero spin ever or wallisch did one of those layed out wierd corked out 540's he was doin in Tight! But I think the biggest indicator that there is something a little bit flawed about the progression of the sport is that, my buddies who I was watchin the big air comp with said:

"man this much spinning just gets old"

in fact they were more impressed with bobbies backflip and with good reason. I know they were having fun and there is nothing wrong with ginormous spins in fact most of them look pretty steez but its not good when judges judge based on spin count and holding a grab. a.0.spin ftw

So i didn't think that I was a fan and I hated big air comps on tv in the past but damn it was kick ass this year. So much intovation! Go X for the sweet jam style set up! But how bout a multi feature set up rail jam? You know like the ones that P-Rod dominates at Summer X.

I dont know how many of you have actually done a double cork but I can tell you it is one of the coolest feelings ever. It feels so sick to be able to do such a crazy trick and land it. Because one of the best parts about skiing is progressing yourself. Think how stoked you were when you first landed a k-fed. Or a cork 7, it is like that but on another level. I can do steezy ass cork 9 blunts and stomp every time. But it isnt nearly as gratifying as landing a dub cork 1440. People will continue to do big tricks because it is boring to do 540's and 720's forever no matter how steezy they are.
