X-Games athletes

see, thats why i say throw him in there, hes like jon but hes slightly crazy cause of the things he does. and maybe, just maybe it wont be a spin to win contest anymore. if we want a spin to win contest lets just add big air. i think people who are silky smouth should be rewarded more than someone who can spin realy fast.

oh absolutely. competitions right now are wack because its easier to quantitatively say "well, he spun more, so it's better". which totally isn't true.

if there were a BUNCH of slow steezy riders, like pollard, becker, pep, etc. then it would be a different contest, but you cant just put becker in with gagnier and candide(not that they aren't steezy but candides cab cork 10s will eat him alive)

Jon Olsson will rule slopestyle if the jump is big enough. Hopefully he'll start getting something new going for pipe too, I'd really love to see him win both after taking bronze so many times. Candide will also make a huge appearance this year, and expect a fully switch pipe run from Laurent.

this woulda been easier if i coulda chosen 20 per category...

But, they really need to bring back quallies! Make the top guys always prove themselves. That’s how the sport will keep getting better and better. Also, there should be big air every year, and it should be under the lights. That would be amazing.

you do realize the aspen opencourse blew. it was the x-games couse and it hadnt been groomed since then! everyone ive talked to thought that course was horrid!

You're tired of seeing the best skiers in the best event year after year?

I think Tanner, Jon, Schiller, and Candide would kill all of those low end pro/ high end am skiers ( I realize there are still a few big names on that list)

But honestly, if you wanted to see those kids compete why not go to a smaller or open event like the Aspen Open, US Open, or VT Open?

qualifiers would be way sicker for 2 reasons.

1) it would be the best skiiers on the hill, none of this your in the finals cause your name is known. i think it would make better TV for them to do a story on the kid that bumped sammy for the last spot.

2) it would help the skiers out to that are trying to make it big. yea the US open is a big contest but its not televised or anything. if a nonamer kills it and then does a sweet interview after his run, the next week sponsors could be calling him left him and right and his or her career could really take off. i say amen to qualifiers

just because you wish you could be t-halls boyfriend and he turned you down dosent mean you have to hate. you prolly dont even have a quater of the skiing ability that he has.

tanner hasnt progressed the sport? is that a joke. im not even a fan of tanner, nor do i think he should have won last years pipe... but he is a crazy ill rider and throws some nasty shit. plus if u were tanner hall, u wouldnt back down to one of the biggest spotlights on skiing yearly just because u want it to progress. he isnt slowing anyones progression, fuck if someone wants to come out and throw something no one has every seen then thats on them not on tanner

WTF!!!

-Mike Riddle schooled the entire X-Games field except Hatveit at the WSI pipe last year, and nobody put his name in? He could win the event.

-And how about Matt Hayward with the sickest 1260's ever in pipe, who won almost every pipe comp he entered last year.

-And Mike Heni who won the WSI slopestyle last year.

CANADA REPRESENT.

im not going to take my time writing out all ten for each catagory, but there are 2 skiers who i think really deserve to be in the pipe

first is chris turpin. i need to see his all switch runs again. he was going switch in the pipe before anyone and i want to see what he can do now.

second is belanger. he was a pipe god 3 until he got hurt at x 3 years ago i think. it sucks because he definitely would have won the gold that year and he really deserved gold in pipe more than anyone who has ever competed. he perfected pipe skiing and really made it more focused on style rather than who boosts 25 feet out of the pipe.

there are more that i could talk about, but i feel these 2 deserve it more than anyone else out there. i really want to see belan get gold in the pipe by the time his careers over. im not sure that it will happen but i will be rooting for him if he gets invited

im gonna go ahead and say that the x-games should be reseerved for the oldest and most established skiers in the game. like tanner, jon, pep, and cr. this makes the x-games something to work towars, and ultimate success in skiing will be more of an accomplishment. i dunno, it just seems right to give some senority.

turpin's switch is hella sick, he had switch pipe hits in stereotype (at wsi) which is ages ago by today's standards. i'd really like to see another of his switch runs. and style wise phil b is one of the best. that is why i have both of these guys on my list.

yeah i didnt even see your post. i dont think that turpin gets half as much props as he deserves

i completely agree. i think chris turpin's innovation in the pipe helped define our sport, even if he dosn't get credit for it.

as much as i would love to agree with you guys that it would be sweet to see turpin doing it switch in the pipe, you have to realize that there is a lot of wow factor in pipe, and the wow factor comes from people boosting 20+ feet out. it sucks, but its the truth.

slopestyle:

tj schiller(cuz he won last year)

Corey Vanular(cuz he's a style king)

Sammy Carlson(cuz lots of skiers look up to him)

Josh Bibby(cuz i feel his run would be innovative)

Charles Gangier(he is trowing progressive tricks)

Candide Thovex(he goes huge and he's fearless)

Peter olenick(super style and consistant. and in the event of spin to win if he can 9 off a 5 foot jump just think what he could do off a 60 footer)

Jacob Wester(tricks are dialed and smooth)

Andres Hatviet(goes huge and he's on everyone's list)

Simon Dumont(he's a crowd pleaser, and sick)

Superpipe:

Tanner Hall(won last year and willing to push it)

Simon Dumont(Many argue he should have won last year. we need to give him a chance to prove it.)

Laurent Favre(watch skimatic)

Jon Olsson(Goes huge and WILL crush competetors)

Corey Vanular(amazing style and tech tricks)

Candide Thovex(goes as big or bigger then everyone and everything is perfect)

Colby West(Goes Huge and lays down the tricks)

Loic-Collomb Patton(very clean)

Dave Chricton(He's large and his tricks are large)

Phil Belanger(perfect pipe skier)

so adam is in breck these days.....good to know, sure i'll run into him again down there sometime this season.

fuck yeah adam slays..... who else can boost 20' out deck flip back in the pipe and get up like nothing happened?

ya, i will second the fact that adam d slays harder than most anybody, and he is ridiculously under rated... he doesnt do what everybody else does because he feels like he has to, he does what he thinks is fun and hard, (nose butter 270 ONTO a down rail...what?) but the scary part is when it becomes time that he needs to throw a cab 10, he will do it and he will do it with style...
