X Games 2006 Best Trick

Anyone remember when the X games slopestyle got cancelled and they had to replace it with best trick. Everyone was super pissed about this. And then literarly every skier in the comp did a switch 1080 except for one person who did either a switch double backflip or frontflip and fell.

And then everyone on NS complained about how X Games sucked and how skiing in general has become 'Spin to Win' and how the person with the double flip should have won, not the most difficult spin.

Anyway it just reminded me of the newest x games big air cause its kind of like the opposite and I can't remember who did the switch double flip back in 06 or whenever so does anyone know?

you wont believe me but it was definately peter olenick and he woulda stomped it but he pre released, also it was much earlier than 2006, i wanna say 2003.

It isn't really the same, the difference in difficulty between a double front, and a switch double corked 12 is huge, and the double cork 12 was way steezier.

Then Jon's double is a ton harder than a double front too...it wasn't like they were throwing sw 10s...

It was rory bushfield, TJ won, and nobody thought it should have gone another way cause rory ate it due to a pre release.

o man, rory bushfield, anyone know if he is still skiing professionally?

and obviously they weren't going to give the win to rory who fell but a lot of people on NS gave so much credit to rory.

But DEFINITLY DEFINITLY similar to what just happened.

Everyone was like the best spin shouldn't win because its the best spin. Doing something cool should win.

And a switch cork 10 and a double cork 1260 are not the same trick but they were the best trick at the time and its true that nobody else is really dub cork 1260-ing compared to everyone who was doing switch cork tens.

Simon kicked it old school with a sick trick. He was just having fun rather and pleasing the crowd rather than going for the win.

it was bushfield who did the double back and then his rossignol bindings sucked and he ejected, now he is on nordica. also tanner rainville did a cork 3 but missed his grab then got it half way through. I hated that year, but if you remember the contest before that, TJ schiller did switch 1440 at us open to win it, so everyone therefore decided that switch big spins are going to win competitions
