a starter kit is worth it. make sure u have a credit card because thats all they take and its pretty easy for setup. amped 2 is alright and mor and more games will be online ready so its definatley worth 50 bucks for a year. and headsets are a must

CKO:

X-Box live is extremely easy to set-up. Basically just get a LAN cable running from your wall jack or router and plug it into the X-box. Then just insert a disc that comes with the starter kit and a program will install. From there simply follow the menus with username, credit card info ect. One everything is setup one time, accessing Live is as easy and quick as setting up any other multiplayer game.

Live is somewhat expensive, so it is probally only worth buying if you are playing your X-box a lot and have (or plan on buying) numerous of games that support Live. Personally, I think it is a waste for someone who justs wants to play a few minutes of video games every now and then.

Hope that can help and feel free to message me with any further questions if you want.

My brother pays for all of it, but I think it cost him about $50 for start-up kit (which included a year subsciption) and $50-something a year for a subsciption. Its pretty expensive, and I wouldn't pay that much, but my bro loves it.

^ really? its the same price as a game for a whole year. and when you buy it you open up a whole other side of a game so if you have lets say 5 games that have live capabilities and you buy one subscription then its like you get 5 games for the price of one. and its not a monthly thing and you can install it easy freerider.

ok, got my xbox. It's very addicting, but I'm a good chunk of the way through amped 2 already so that's nice.

I was just wondering what the deal with xbox 'connect' is versus xbox 'live'... I know a couple of ppl have mentioned it in this thread. Let me know if you guys get a chance.

it's all very exciting.

XBox Connect is very similar to XBox live except it is free (but slightly more inconvient). You install a program on your computer which allows your Xbox to connect to a network. Using your program you downloaded, on a computer you can find and setup games. Go to http://www.xbconnect.com/faq.php#xboxonline for more details.
