i just noticed, that the address changes to justhttp://new... rather thanhttp://www.-- is that new, or am i just really dumb?

it depends how you typed it in, if you typed www.NS.com it will have a www, but if you typed just NS.com it wont.

 
yeah thats coz the www redirects to a folder on a server and without it it can be a different folder on the same (or different server. I think so anyway. Depends on how the server has been administered of course.

z_boarder go it. all has to do with the server set up but in general the www directory will forward you to the public_html directory which is what you get if you don't type in the w's in the first place.

for the most part i just type in newschoolers.com or the equivalent for any site, so my point is the www is often quite useless.

i do the same, but for certain websites i find you have to use the www. or something wont load or some problem erupts
