macs are way better than any pc out there. There so much easyer to use. When ever mac comes out with a new disign or program pc allways copys it.

PC's are far better...or so i say.Any mac i've ever used crashed and went slower more than my computer (pentium etc) plus yes windows has better games, and more compatible programs.

macs are actually faster than pc's depending on what Mac you use. Lets say for example the new imac G5, the fastest computer out there right now can whoop the shit out of any PC.

if you ANYTHING about computers macs are shit.

whoever says that PC techs copy mac they are absolute fools. IBM made the new G5 processor, its a 64bit. most processors nowadays are 32 (like the p4) you cannot compare apples to oranges. besides no one but macintrash is implementing a few programs and such to utilize the 64 bits, otherwise it has to emulate a 32bit mode in order to run 32 applications which makes it slower than a 32bit cpu running 32 bit apps.

THIS ALL MEANS THAT MACS SUK. LINUX IT SHIT. IT IS WORTHLESS. THE ONLY REASON YOU LIKE LINUX IS SO YOU CAN BE DIFFERENT. FUK YOU ALL.

OK!!!! Go read the specs on the new PowerMac G5 (not the iMac G5 which doesn't exist), and tell me their slower than a dual 3.06 Ghz pentium Xeon!! And apple designed the first GUI waaay before windows sucked 95 out of the macs trash bin! And no, the G5 does not emulate the 32 bit process, and it runs at full 32 speed in standard applications. The only reason there are no 64 bit apps out yet is because apple just introduced the computer and it hasn't even shipped yet. On the other hand the Xeon DOES emulate 32 bit apps, and IS slower in standard 32 bit applications. One more thing, IBM never was just making chips for Microsoft, only intel ever did that. IBM has made unix and linux servers for a very long time and had made G3's in the far past right before motorola took over. The one thing i do like about PC's is the wider selection of games, which Macs are always slow to get. Well there is my view on macs and pc's and I hold nothing against either accept Microsoft Windows 95.

I have both MAC and PC in front of me right now and i can honestly say that the new G5 cannot possibly be the fastest computer in the world, simply because the new breed of Athlon 64 and the new pentium processors are built for extreme conditions... I have run burn in tests on both my pc and mac and my mac always crashes first. Don't get me wrong, for Digital imaging and video the mac can completely destroy my pc, but with the newer cpus and mobos and chipsets and what-not my pc is constantly being updated and the mac is slowly lossing ground even in these fields, especially with my overclocked athlon xp (3200+) and radeon graphics card (9800 pro w/ 256 mb ddr). And yes, I do know that the radeon grapihcs cards are available for macs, but I just don't want to spend that much money on it. My solution for all of you is to just buy both and use them for what they are good at, that's what i do... ;)

FYI - There is currently no PC emulator out for osX because you would need to emulate a powerpc cpu and you would need the mac rom/ram which is only available in, take a wild guess, macs. Sorry, but you can only get as far as 8.1 with an emulator...

helix you might know something but your BIGGEST mistake was bout the xeon.

Xeons are fukin 32bit processors they do NOT emulate the 32bits, if they did that would mean they are a 16bit processor which they are not.

the last 16bit processor was a 4.77mhz pentium like a decade ago. and i wasnt hazing ibm i was hazing crapple macintrash. ibm is god and have been god for like 98 years or watever. AND by the way 32 bit applications CANNOT be run straight on a 64 bit processor. this is where the 'emulation' comes in. the 64 bit memory range isnt double a 32. its 2^64 or watever maybe the other way round. so its massively larger. it has to iterate a 32 bit app in a loop like a sequence over its 64 bitness. so it will take a little longer to do stuff in comparison to a 32bit cpu. but a 64bit running a 64bit app will kik all ass. but the only 64bit apps out right now are pretty much server shits and no one WILL make any 64bit apps worth using until intel releases their 64bit cpu sometime late next year. b/c EVERYONE and their mother writes software for intel. period. o yea not to make this post too long or anything but do some research on the i/o for the G5 and the chipsets. *grin*

All of you must realize that the benchmarks being run on the G5 are designed to run on the G5 (the software that nasa used was written specifically for each specific system not just the G5)... They are enhanced for 64-bit processors and so the full 8 GB of system memory is being used while the others (including the xserv g4 and the powerpc g4) have a maximum of 4GB with a muc lower throughput. What is impressive is the 1ghz fsb, which until now has never been reached except in a close to 0 degrees Kelvin atmosphere. I am still going to say that I am loyal to AMD and the fact that MAC does not include them in the benchmarks is kinda shady. Even my old Athlon XP 1900+ can completely destroy my powerpc g4 in synthetic benchmarks (maybe it's because of the fact that the AMD processors move more data per clock cycle than any other CPU) and if it weren't for windoze and Microsoft sucking, my PC would definetely be a better all around computer. Linux is awesome, but the Direct 3d emulation completely blows so I stick with XP Pro for gaming...

FYI - a 64 bit CPU is capable of running ANY software at a much quicker speed than a 32 bit CPU. However, due to the fact that the conversion takes up a lot of the L2 cache, this is hardly the case. That is why the Athlon 64 has a frickin huge L2 cache! ;)

Ok, I'm sorry for saying the Xeon is a 64 bit processor, but the IBM PPC970 does NOT emulate 32 bit processes, it runs them at full clock rate. m1garand may now go read up on that and see for your self that the PPC 970 is FULLY 32 bit backwards compatable. Or if that stuff is to complicated go to www.apple.com and read some user friendly explinations, and I have no idea what your grining about when you talk about i/o on the G5, if your talking about that being slow...

Ok, ADM is going to beat Intel by far in the 64 bit catagory. They are comming out with some pretty sick processors. Now I will take blame for calling the Xeon a 64 bit processor and correct it to the Itanium wich is a menace in process. But when you say that 64 bit applications will not be implimented untill Intell gets there is a even bigger mistake than the one I made, considering apple has already reprogrammed the interger based opperations to allow 32 bit applications to take full advantage of the 64 bit wide interger pipeline. Also with many new compilers being reprogrammed to support 64 bit compiling most current applications should be in beta, if not completely stable in 64 bit form within a few months.

Oh, and I have installed linux on my mac, but currently I can run KDE 3 on my mac in X11, soon apple will have most API's reprogrammed also... Linux + Mac = more free software!!
