WWDC

What are your predictions for the expo on June 9 for the WWDC?
Personnally, i expect (or hope) for an 3G iPhone 2.0 available in Canada with iPod Touch 2.0, new Macbooks and Macbook Pros and hopefully new Cinema Displays.

New 3G iPhone is a definite release...I'm hoping it'll support MMS, video recording, and have a front camera and a mobile iChat type app for video calling over 3G and wifi...that would be the sexiness.

I'm not sure on the MBP and MB deal, I wouldn't mind at all of course, but they just updated them no long ago, the MB now supports up to 4gig of RAM and the MBP is offered with a faster chip, soooo.....maybe?

This is actually why I believe new macbooks (at least) are going to be released:

Anyway, I've just seen that with Intel postponing the release of their Montevina chips, Macbooks can't be released before the end of summer....meh..Maybe an announcement?

hmmm i was gonna get a mac soon but if they are coming out with new ones how long till tehy come out do you think? im gonna neeed it soon like by summer. and think they will drop current mac book prices or just make the new ones higher?

Depends on what they announce at WWDC, if they are using the new Intel chip, then they have to wait for Intel to be done with it, and that looks like fall.

But they could announce a release as early as say...a few weeks from the conference.

If you get a Mac now, it's not going to be obsolete by any means for years to come, even if they release an update in fall. I'm still running Tiger because I don't want to pay for the update right now, and because I think 10.4 is more stable at this point, and doesn't run as many background processes, which means it'll run quicker.

By the way...it's already summer.

hmm im not a knowledagable person on mac so would you recomend to wait for teh new one or buy sooner.(i wanna get the ipodwith it aswell) and its not summer for em yet, im still in school.

You should wait till the 9th so you'll see if they announce it. If they do, maybe its only going to be an announcement for later in fall or maybe its going to be released right there. Dependss, and maybe you'll be able to buy it with the ipod.
I think that if they release it later in fall, they will extend the promotion so that students can get the latest macbook with the ipod touch.

Oh and for the prices, usually Apple updates the hardware for the same price for their products, meaning the current macbooks will probably be cheaper once the new ones are announced.

Just hope they don't pull the same stunt they did last summer. I was holding out to get my laptop for school until leopard released, but then the iPhone started getting all the crazy publicity and they pushed back the release of leopard, which ended up i'm sure being a fantastic business decision (getting all those students to buy both the laptop and then a few months later the new OS) but it sucked to have to drop the extra cash. But definitely wait til after WWDC to see what they announce.

im not doing anything too crazy with the laptop, just using i for college shit, parpers and the sort. mabye try some editing or stuff with it. but mostly just college shit. will it be nessiciary(sp) to have the latest and greatest, especially when a new version is gonna come out a few years after that, and i wont be upgrading to a new laptop?

We're not talking about years, but its a matter of days. In a couple of days you may have the opportunity to buy a more powerful computer for the same price - or if you don't need more power, you'll get the same deal for a whole lot less money (clearance). In both ways, you're winning by waiting.
