Better to get it right than get it out first if you ask me. There may be "evidence" that the internet spews out, but it is the internet. You take to take a lot of it with a grain of salt.

definitely. Remember all of the crazy news reports that were coming out on 9/11? All types of bunk stories that are now conspiracy theories

i can only imagine the north korean news headlines: "valiant kim jong un wrestles american airliner to ground with bare hands"

There's a little something called a Nuclear Weapon.

There's nothing preventing Putin from blowing the United States into dust with his 3,281 active nuclear warheads except for the knowledge that doing so would end life on Earth as we know it. Also terrorists don't fear our military because many are so devoted to their cause that they'll die for it. On top of that, they could easily go into hiding as a civilian and U.S. troops wouldn't know the difference.

If Putin launched, the US would likely be destroyed, but only after we took our Russia. We have missiles in Europe, far closer to Russia that Russia's missiles are to the US. So, no matter what, we'd both be taken out.

way to go cia, you "most likely" are able to conclude something the internet suggested 20 hours ago.

I don't know, but the fact that the Department of Defense has confirmed something means a lot more to me than internet speculation.

I seem to remember the internet suggesting about a dozen different suspects for the Boston Marathon bombing, basically ruining the lives of those poor people for weeks on end as they were assaulted by anonymous pieces of shit

Just cause a bunch of uneducated basement dwellers say something online and an endless swarm of sheep repeat what they say it doesn't actually provide any legitimacy to their suggestions

I wouldn't really rely on this as a valid source for a multitude of reasons

A. Any two people that speak russian can put this out in a matter of minutes and claim it to be intercepted conversation

B. When listening to the intonation(I speak russian), it is at a constant monotone, which is not common when 300 people die, whether it was by accident or on purpose

C. No one has been able to confirm this as a valid source

Im not picking sides at all here, but I'm just saying don't believe everything that pops up to be hardcore evidence

I'm getting ridiculously annoyed by the incredibly rash acquasations the media and governments are making.

This will most likely end up being a case in which it will take quite some time before the truth is unearthed. Pointing blame to anyone on just the flimsiest shreds of unverifiable evidence is wrong in any situation.

This sucks, one of the lads that plays in one of the rugby teams with me at my universities rugby club was onboard

you've got to remember that the governments have a lot more access to information than they let on, the media however can get fucked, they can at least go do some investigating before they publish bullshit

Yep, I agree with what you've said, and am as sceptical as you are. Just thought it may provide something for the discussion. Would be quite interesting if this were what it's supposed to be though, wouldn't it?

In every previous flight, the plane was south of the Sea of Azov. Reports also state that Ukrainian fighters were tailing civilian aircraft. Why would the pilot choose the more dangerous route? Who would authorize the redirection of the plane and why?

We still have little information and it is unclear what happened.

I liked how the CNN headlines went:

-"Ukrainian Pres: 'Plane appears to have been shot down'"

*3 min later*

-"Ukrainian Pres: 'We didn't shoot down the plane'"

if it was the Russians, I doubt it was intentional. and it doesn't mean much, unfortunate as that is.

Commercial airline shootdowns happen. The US shot down an Iranian Airlines A300 years ago, and most likely also destroyed a TWA flight off long island in 1996. And the Soviet Union had more than one instance of shooting down airliners. Hell they shot down multiple Korean Airlines planes by accident. And that's just one airline.

when you're targeting a plane flying at altitude, it's very difficult to tell what exactly it is.

If you don't know that it's hostile, don't fucking shoot it. Simple. It's such a fucked up world when you have to worry about some Russian asshole shooting down a commercial flight filled with innocent people with an SA-11 because he's too stupid to figure out what it is.

Russia has a history of being trigger happy and incompetent beyond reasonable mistakes. Just go read about how one of their idiot pilots shot down a Korean Airliner after positively identifying it as a passenger jet. After reading the pilots account of what he did, I concluded that he's full blown fucking retarded and a shitty pilot while we're at it. Not only did he discover that it was a plane full of innocent people, he also had a hard time shooting a barn door after the fact.

Well the US shot down Iran 655 killing 290 people and we did not apologize to Iran for 22 years. The US also shot down TWA 800 killing 230 people over the Atlantic Ocean near East Moriches, New York, on July 17, 1996 the same date as the MH17 disaster. They still late covering it up to this day.

Nrc.nl liveblog for today, yesterday, the day before.

There's so much happening, it's in the Dutch news non-stop, nearly impossible to condense the freight load of information.

As of right now the remains have been put in refrigerated wagons of a train, but this train his no destination.
