In the 5th grade, for christmas my parents got me a package deal where i rode the bus up every week on saturdays with a buddy, and we got a 2 hour lesson, thenw e had about 4-5 hours to ski, and chill. We did that for 3 seasons, and by the last season, i saw my first pair of twins, and after that i was hooked. I skiied non stop all the time, but didn't get heavily into the freeskiing scene until about 2 years ago. I love it, I'm glad my parents gave me a good gift.

I have skiied since I was 3, and then when I was 11, I started snowboarding. I spent two seasons on a snowboard and realized that skiing owned it. I havn't looked back since

V-TOWN Bitches!

ive benn skiing since i was like 5. then i tried snowboarding once and hated it. then i went skiboarding, and saw some guys on "trick skis". i was like sick. and then i got my first issue of freeskier and it happened to have a photo of candide hitting chads. i was hooked.

"i'll nosepress your box if you lipslide my rail"

you would think i have some great story but i just love to ski, so eventually i got hooked on freestyle because im a kid and thats the cool thing to do

snowboarded for 6 years, got sick of everyone just doing it because it was the cool thing to do, my cousin bought a pair of old 1080's, and then i just switched over to skiing.

dynastarconcept, he harrassed me until i cried...and then trade my racing skiis for twin tips

From hunted to hunter

i was j-racing and skiing bumps and a friend of the family started getting into magazines and was in comps and whatnot. then i went down to the x games and decided i wanted twin tips and quit racing. and i met sarah burke who was at the time the only real female freeskier out there and i was like whoa girls can do this too... and i never looked back. and i've gotten probably 10 people to switch over from racing and shit or snowboarding since then.

My frist time on a hill, when i was in grade5 or 6, was on a snowboard. It was the cool thing to do, and I wanted to learn how. So id go and rent and ride and i did that for a whole year before i realized how much it sucked. Like actually sucked. Anyways, I then in grade 7, on all the school trips, i went skiing, took lessons and stuff. Basicly just fooled around on the hill like a kid should. It wasnt till grade 9 out door ed trip that my mind was opend by twintips. Skibum_ had a pair, and they were awesome. For the next 3 years, till i was in grade 11, i would rent ski's and go skiing, hitting jumps and boxes and stuff. But then grade 11's christmas came. What a wonderful christmas that was. My parents took me to a boxing day sale and paid for half a pair of ski's, boots, bindings, polls and a helmet. Ever since then I havnt been able to get enough. I remember back in grade 11 going on school trips to hills , all the girls would check me out, cause im ridicilously good looking, and dressed kinda like a snowboarder, look down and see my skiboots and then completly blow me off. It was kinda frustrating.

my friends were snowboarders so they went into terrain parks on school trips (this was before ski trips) so I went in and did jumps and rails and shit with them

i learned to ski when i was 10, i was hooked on it. my house is on a hill so my brother and i always made jumps and went off of them on our GT snowracers. one day i decided to hit it with my skis. (keep in mind these skis were hand me downs from the 80s) so i hit the jump and loved the feeling. i picked up skiing again when i was 13, bought some regular skis and went into the terrain park and did tricks and stuff. usually i was the only skier in the park. later that year i watched the Xgames and realised that i was not alone. i saved up some money and bought my first twintips 2 years ago and have been progressing ever since.

No Props!

during the cultural revolution, mao zedong said snowboards werent cool anymore, so if u owned one, they would kill you. this one nice red guard dude gave me a pair of armadas and i was hooked since.

Jeepers Creepers, where'd you get the neat sneakers?!?!

hehehe giggle giggle giggle

i started skiing just for fun when i was 12, then last year i discovered the magical world of a terrain park...

haha i just did a presentation on Mao zedong yesterday. Oh an plumpwonton, we beat lakeside recovery last night on my summer ball team. Arent' alot of those guys from Issy?

im sure everyone used to think, liek i did, that we were basically the only ones doing this...well i did

i started skiing at 4, and ive always liked going of jumps, and basically taught myself every trick, none of which are great.

i think the thing that got me addicted was buying ski movie 3, my first movie, and meeting some pros at a shop. since then ive been hooked

Run For Cover Productions

i tried snowboarding, couldnt do it for my life so i prety much stuck with skiing. I ski a whole lot and pretty much have mastered most of the terrains on a regular mountain. Stuff was starting to get boring and the only thing left on the list was the terrain park

I have always skied, and I'll be honest...as much as I hate the fucker now, the first time I saw Johnny Mosley do the 360 mute at the olympics in like 96, I knew I wanted to do tricks. That is when I started teaching myself, and then I grew up idolizing the canadian air force.

We'll have you dead pretty soon.

i got board with skateboarding so i started to try harder at skiing. and i cus my brother snowboards so i had to show him skiing is better.

Ski raced just for fun, then my friend bill show me the first year the concepts came out in a twin tip. He showed me some grinds, and some switch stuff, blew my mind. So i bought some 1080s and new schooled ever since.

skiboarding. then i relized that its really easy and lame

I have a friend who's only joy in life is to skate, surf and flog his log.

That is all he wants to do and I think that's really great.

But then one day he had an accident they had to amputate his arms.

Guess he was sad that day.

He can't surf, he can't skate and he sure can't masturbate no more...

all my snowboarder friends dragging me into the park. ive spent more hours idle in parks just watching then prolly most people on this site. so then i decided i could actually have fun AND hang out with my friends if i started.

When i was like 10 i was so stoked on snowboarding cuz it looked so cool to do all those tricks and stuff. Well, i had never skied or snowboarded and i took lessons to snowboard but i hated it, i was on my ass most of the day. Then i traded in my rental board for some skis and from that day on i'v been hooked. But i didnt seriously get into the freestyle scene until 2 winters ago.

i saw a picture of philou doing a mute grab on yellow teneighties in SKI magazine back in like 2000. so i saved up and got the blue teneighties the year after they came out. i hung out in the park a little bit and saw that there were like 2 or 3 other skiers in the park doing the same thing as me. i dabbled in the park but didn't really get into it until a couple winters ago.

my level of radness... it just can't... be quantified.

racing got me loving skiing, and feeling very confident. i was always about the dare-devlish stuff, i loved watching snowboarding, skateboarding, x-games stuff, and then freeskiing kind of exploded.. i got interested, but never took action until i moved to ottawa, 2 years ago and met a few guys that were really into it.

stick that in your pipe and smoke it!

keep it real.

when i was little i was invited to join my mountain ski team, and you could either choose racing or freestyle. i chose the freestyle, because i wanted to learn to get better at moguls. but there were a few kids who taught me how to jump, and i learned some basic grabs. but then, in 2002, i saw the x-games slopstyle. instantly i was hooked

hahah oh ya!!!! my library had that magazine and i stole it and that helped contribute to my ski addiction

i picked up this issue of axis a couple years ago and there was a picture of some skier in japan.. i can't remember who.. nosepressing the hell out of a rainbow rail. that image is burned in my mind.

raced forever... quit... ALMOST started snowboarding... Ben showed me Candide's part in 13... built a booter and learned backflips...

started in 1978 when i was 4...parent were ski instructors...started snowboarding in 1989...competed freestyle and boarder-z...then skis started showing more sidecut and the rest is history........won a pair of elan scx carving skis at Killington in 1996...started carving them backwards in 97...went to the Sugarbush terrain park in 97 saw my first true step down type jump that i could hit on skis....the rest has been silly ever since

i started skiing when i was 11. took me 2 hours to get on the hill cuz i thought i was going to break my leg. once i got on the hill i didnt want to get off. then for a few years i would go out once or twice a year. one day i was at the hill and say this kid bill Kelly on yellow ten eighties doing a big 540,it blew my mind. then in the 9th grade i got some snowblades. i kept breaking them so finaly i went to the ski shop and looked around. my eyes where caught by the orange line 1260's. i got my folks to buy them for me. ever since then i couldnt stop thinking about skiing.

snap crackle pop

Lets see....I'm 27 now...started skiing when I was 5. So I've been skiing more years than I can remember. I only tried snowboarding once, way back in the early 90's. But all my friends switched to snowboarding and I was always the only skier hanging with a bunch of snowboarders. They would build kickers and I would hit them with my 204 slalom sticks. I can remember ''bonking'' a trash can with my skis on and all my boarding friends thought it was weird. I had always wanted to incorporate snowboarding's influenence (as far as the tricks, attitude and style) into my skiing and when twin tips hit the market I was all about them! My first twins were the 01-02 Enemies. I started doing switch shit on my old K2 El Caminos but I got sick of my tails digging in. I haven't owned a pair of non-twins since then.

having jason levinthals dad as a teacher in middle school

going to the same school that mike nick and levinthal went to

I started skiing before I could walk. My dad ran the ski school at my local mountain, so I was always hanging out with the older ski instructors, building jumps with them, and hitting them. By the time I was about 12, I could ski about anything and would hit aobut any jump. Most of my friends snowboard, so I went into the park with them, and would just go big off the jumps. A couple years ago i saw a kid with twins, and I wanted to be able to land backwards more easily. I had been skiing on 205's for a couple years at this point, and for the first time in my life this past fall I got a brand new pair of skis. I got a pair of TM's and am hooked. This was the first pair of shaped skis I had ever skied on.
