mother nature can be a unpredictable bitch sometimes. we've had shitty winters before, within the past 10 years in fact...people are just going nuts because of all this 2012 business.

be thankful that we have the resources and technology to make snow. nearly everyone by now has had a chance to get their home mountains open due to snowmaking, if we didn't have it, we wouldn't be skiing at all. thanks to terrain parks most of us all at least have some rails to slide around on too and keep us busy. we may not getting dumped on, we might have a few wobbly rails instead of jump lines, and there might be a bunch of bare spots everywhere but at least there's snow on the hill and the lifts are spinning. go out and have fun. stimulate our economy by supporting our industry. skiing needs you now more than ever.
 
Yeah that whole solar cycle thing is just 2012 madness. Nothing to it at all. No such thing as an 11 yr solar cycle or any of that. Haha
 
in my area its supposed to be the coldest year in 20 years and were supposed to get a shit tone of snow but hasnt really happened yet
 
valdez has gotten 289'' this winter...at sea level. ak had a shitty winter last year. it all just depends
 
joking aside , do you know who took that pic? was it really recently? that is fucking insane, my east coast mountain is beating the shit out of that
 
interesting theory, although i wouldn't worry, the Southern Hemisphere/NZ season went exactly the same, started off very slowly then turned into pretty much the gnarliest winter we've had down here.
 
up the mountains tended to be pretty shitty although, too windy but we had at one time about a foot of snow on the ground here in queenstown, and damn that hasn't happened for a verrrrry long time.

Sorry man but whistler and British Columbia are a whole bother ball game. the warmer it is there the more moisture gets in the air from all of the valleys and long narrow rivers . once all of that moisture rises in the fall all of it comes down in the winter making a good snow year for the Canadian rockies. so basically the warmer it is in the fall for B.C the more it snows there.

don't be sad north american friends, in many european ski resort they aren't skiing right now either ....
