You know, I'm truely sorry the way I worded the title of this thread.  By no way is this putting down Spong.  From what I've seen he's a very good skier.
I just don't think you should always judge a book by the cover.  Not to say that whats inside the book isn't good, but you have to read it a little before you make a decision.  One season does not make a career.  What does make a career though, is consistancy.  The Winter X games is "the premiere winter action sports event".  And for a Premiere event, Athletes are choosen based on consistancy.
Sidney Crosby did not make the Canadian Olympic team.  I have seen him play before the NHL, and well he is very good... on of the best to play juniors... but he has not proven himself entirely in the half season he's played so far at the NHL level... so I agree with the decision.  Not that I think he's a bad hockey player, just that there have been other guys that have earned the right to participate based on years of consistant play.  But in 2010, I can assure you Crosby will be there.  And he will shine.
