I would say him and Alexis are equal...Alexis won so many comps against the pros in quebec. And not to mention the fact he took gold in his age group at the east coast open (might of been vermont) in slopestyle, pipe, and rail jam. He couldn't have won more golds.
 
2nd in air, 5th in slope at us open if im not mistaken, say now that spong doesnt deserve the invite.
 
k who cares if he did good in one competition, alexis is doing good in all, jacob got 2nd at JOI, tron placed first at VT open. ahmet probably could have done equally as good if he would have gone to us open. not saying hes not good but i tihnk there is definatly more people who deserve it.
 
Things is, Spong is gonna be in X.

Rainville is gonna be in X.

Wester is most likely gonna be in X.

We all just have to wait and see what happens at Winter X, because then we will know who "deserved" the invite and who did not.
 
you say that they are creating a huge cloud of drama and shit, and it is a all a marketing scheme? all they did was invite a skier who did better at last years open than anyone you have mentioned so far. so what have they done, nothing, you are creating all this drama, lets just see how he does.
 
Yeah, second place at the open...that is impressive. That BLOWS MY MIND. That is talent. That video must not do him justice.
 
You know, I'm truely sorry the way I worded the title of this thread. By no way is this putting down Spong. From what I've seen he's a very good skier.

I just don't think you should always judge a book by the cover. Not to say that whats inside the book isn't good, but you have to read it a little before you make a decision. One season does not make a career. What does make a career though, is consistancy. The Winter X games is "the premiere winter action sports event". And for a Premiere event, Athletes are choosen based on consistancy.

Sidney Crosby did not make the Canadian Olympic team. I have seen him play before the NHL, and well he is very good... on of the best to play juniors... but he has not proven himself entirely in the half season he's played so far at the NHL level... so I agree with the decision. Not that I think he's a bad hockey player, just that there have been other guys that have earned the right to participate based on years of consistant play. But in 2010, I can assure you Crosby will be there. And he will shine.
 
Steele spence doesn't deserve an invite to X Games. So many other skiers are better than him now, not to say he's not a good skier, he is good, but there are others that can throw down way better, more stylish shtuff than him.
 
i say pong deserves the spot anyone his age who is tossing down like he is and has the ability to walk into a comp and scare the veterans should be there i would not be surprised if he medals the kids got skills
 
haha canadian hockey, your stretching for metaphors now. and who decided that for a "premier event", as you put it, that athletes are chosen based on consistancy? Why not, well i dont know, Skill maybe. its a comp of the best skiers, not the all the skiers who have made a "career" for themselves. but whatever, im just arguing cause i think he deserves it.
 
agreed, he looks good, but i see about 5 kids a day skiing like that at winter park, should they be in x?
 
Thing iS, Spongs a great skier, but there are atleast 10 skiers that deserve that spot over spong...everyone knows that the judging last year sucked, results were skewed all over the place

yes hes 15. did good in 1 comp? oh yea ok........wsi last year and jon olson invitational and gravity games.....placing well in all of them. definatly deserves way more respect then you guys are giving him. if you have ever skied with him he makes anything look steezy. but if you feel the need to keep talking shit, please do. the more you talk shit the better dspong will do. the kid will read your shit talking and want to show you up and absolutly throw down at x. just wait
