yes, it's easier to abuse alcohol. That's not the point. If that were the point, my argument wouldn't hold. My point, though, was that it's rare for somebody to smoke pot for a reason OTHER than getting the high that comes with it. Alcohol, on the other hand, can be consumed without effecting you in such a way. I'm not saying that pot's more dangerous, I'm saying that when it comes down to controlling alcohol/pot/drugs, the current state of legalization, laws, etc, are set because they are simply ways that the government is ABLE to control. I'm sure that if drunk driving could be prevented entirely by finding a way to prevent people from getting drunk, that would be done, but that type of control isn't possible.
It's the same idea as making driving while talking on cell phones in NY. It may be a small change that isn't nearly as dangerous as driving while tired, but it's something objective, instead of subjective, that CAN BE controlled.
