Wtf is with peeps using pipe cleaners on rails?

they're supposedly just a top quality park ski. Most people on them probably don't ski pipe at a level to use them only for pipe.
 
i have some pipe cleaners im gonna use on rails next year

i kinda stumbled into them, but they are my only park ski so why wouldnt i hit rails on them, they are next years to so the have a good rail edge just like the AR6s

so whats wrong with hitting rails one them, i cant afford to have just a pipe ski
 
Man if If the pipe cleaner had a wider edge i would be all over it.... well if it had a wider edge and wasnt 600 bucks...
 
I'm curious about this. What makes a ski good on rails? what makes you classify this ski as "decent" on rails. Will using the fujatives make you better on rails than using the pipe cleaners?
 
aren't the 08's going to be the same edges as ar6's? I could be wrong, but who knows.

And very few people are at a level to warrent just a pipe ski, so its only natural to have a pipe and park ski. They go hand in hand.
 
i guess light, durable edges make a ski good for rails. but it doesnt really matter that much cus i ski with a kid who use shitty ass like 1980's straight skis on urban and he still kills it.

and if you want to ski an icy pipe its so hard to use a ski worn down from rails
 
that just means they're a bit softer and require alot more waxing. If you dont tend to beat up skis, the wax shouldnt be a very large problem.
 
yeah im with you i couldnt justify using the pipe cleaners on rails. they are sick skis dont get me wrong but i wouldnt use them on anything besides pipe and jumps. id much rather have another pair of skis that i dont care as much about to use on rails
 
why wouldnt you?

with a super fast base... youd grease hard!

also, theres been fat edges for like what? 2 seasons? get over yourself. skis are possessions, you dont HAVE to treat them like your stuck up grilfreind.
 
just an fyi - the edges were 1.7mm for 0607 which is why they did not have a rail-impact warranty on them... this is why there was so much talk about not using them for rails at all, b/c they would not grant any type of warranty... they're fine for rails - absolutely fine, and for the 0708 models, the edge width is 2.3mm just like the rest of edges in the whole Armada line, so rail related damage will be considered for the PC this year...
 
Dude X games slope could be won on the original TMs from 4 years ago. It just doesn't matter in the park. Speed's not usually an issue edges should be non existent for rails...and that's it right there.

Of course with pipe, speed and edges are nice so that's different, but my point here is that in the park, nice skis are very nice and all, but all you need is some mid mounted double enders of some sort.
 
the bases are softer than normal correct?

cuz my friend was looking for sum skis so on our way home from killy we stoped at the clocktower place or w/e its called and the guy was convinced that they are harder bases. and he basically didnt want me to outsmart him about the skis they has when he really didnt know shit. and i think he was gay cuz he was all over the kid i was with.
 
i carry 6 pairs of skis (mounted of course) with me at all times, i have pipe cleaners for riding half pipe, T-halls for jumps and rails, urban triplets for urban, Faty-pus's for super deep pow, lizzy's for big-mountain, and some MSPs for generl riding, that way i always have the exact ski i need!
 
honestly, I'm not sure if their bases are harder or softer than most park/pipe skis, but I do know that the base material that is used is much more porous than most skis - it's a race stock type base which requires much more regular waxing... this is what makes these skis so damn fast, as long as the bases are kept in good shape with regular maintenance, they fly...
 
Ok here is the deal right here. If you are out skiing you just want to ski. If you want to go hit the park and some jumps and rails you just go do it, if you want to hit pipe you go shred the pipe. Nobody has the time to go back to their car and switch out their skis because they want to hit some rails and then go back and switch out again because they need their "dedicated pipe ski". That is just lame. Just freaking ski, if you are always worried about damaging your equipment, you hold back and don't have as much fun.

Me personally if I am riding my 190 Gotamas or Jps and my friends want to go hit the park I just ride my Gotamas in the park, that would be lame if I was like dudes let's go to the car so I can grab my park skis.
 
it says in the 08 armada catolog that they have the same edge as the AR6, so basically the same ski with a different base
 
I rode em all year in the park and i must say it is the best all around park/pipe ski i have ever riddn, and so fun fast and turny on groomers. i hit alot of boxes, even spinning on with em and i never had a problem, i may have to get 07/08's too
 
Who cares, its there ski. If they dont use em for comps and dont go to CVA or WV or any academy where they strictly ski stuff. It shouldnt matter. 
 
What I think he's trying to say is that a ski is better on rails if its more durable, that way the wear and tear isn't so severe as it could be on skis like the pipe cleaners. I really don't know how much truth there is to the pipe cleaners getting ruined so easily though. Everyone I've met who has them takes them on rails and boxes.
 
I think the only difference is that the Sintered bases might be harder to repair, and then once you do repair them, those areas can't absorb any more wax. Not a huge deal IMO.
