Wtf is a cab or half cab??

caballerial is fakie 360 on a skate board

it's often called cab or full cab. half cab is fakie 180 on a skateboard. it's named after steve caballero, no wonder we don't get no respect from other sports... I know saying cab 540 is acceptable and usually means switch, but this is what it is and anyone who says other wise is a loony.

fucking snowboarding loonies. it's ripped from skateboarding because snowboarders don't know shit about there skateboarding roots, hell I heard one guy talking about frontside boardslides being called backslides. nutters, every last one of them.

dude, who cares. Call is bazonkiers if you want. People can call it switch, i personally think switch and cab sound way better than "fakie"

well the problem is that people want to make skiing core by being more like a boardsport, and then they convolute something like skateboarding which coined more than half the terms we used, also why the hell are we biting bmxing for trick names now? (re: truck drivers)

cab = switch

dont say half cab when your skiing you will get yellow snow balls thrown at you no doubt

the issue here isn't whether or not it's fakie or switch, anyone who skateboards will clearly say that skiiers can only do fakie, if not, go back to jerking off about avril, fucking poser.

and then it spills into the lousy image skiing has, because we seem like a bunch of stupid kids who rip our trick names from other sports.

I don't really give a damn if we call it switch or not, but appropriating something like cab into our vocabulary seems like a shitty call when no snowsport has got it right.

and the guy that said switch is a skateboarding term so we should use fakie, fakie is a skating term too. you fuckin loonie.

well at least understand that it goes back to skateboarding and steve caballero. if you get any of this stupid crap know where the trick names come from.

The majority of skiers on this site, and any pro or mag in the last couple of years use switch. Remember even if you skateboard, were talkin about skiing.

which is fine, switch is allright, as long as you don't call a fakie flip on a skateboard a switch flip because your confused by skiings biting of other sports

Sometimes I do say fakie instead of switch cuz im so used to saying it from skating ("rollerblading" as most people know it by) cuz switch in skating is when you grind with your unnatural foot, so to me it seems like switch should be used when you grind your opposite way on skis(I mean if you normally lead if your left foot, switch would be you lead with your right foot if some of you didnt understand that). I dont think it should matter what you say. They both mean the same basic thing.

cab is fakie unnatural from what i know.

a full cab is a fakie unnatty 3

a half cab is a fakie unnatty 1

im pretty sure

There is no such thing as cab in skiing. There was already a huge discusion about this like a year ago. Use the search bar next time.

whoverf called me a dumbass...i know more about skiing than you will ever know. im saying that we shouldnt copy snowboard names....i dont care if pros call it that. i dont do everything a pro does. when you copy pros thats why our sport isnt unique. i want skiing to be skiing, not halfway between skiing and snowboarding like most people describe it. sure its alright to use some terms like nollie and lipslide but using cab doesnt even relate to skiing. i always say switch but when i think about it, its not even relevant to skiing.

we like to not spark new pointless arguments and search the bar of wisdom...i personally couldn't be sicker of arguments like this

how aout no every one i know calls it switch i hate fucking idiots like you who think what they think is right and everyone should abide by it.

i said that technicaly its fakie....i call it switch but what im sayin it why do we copy snowboard terms? i like the way switch sounds but still...why cant we be original for our terms and not sound like copiers of skateboarding and snowboarding. when we copy rollerblading people shit their pants and cry about it but if we copy snowboarding or skateboarding everyone is cool with it. our sport is the opposite of skateboarding.

who cares? if you say switch 7, cab 7, fakie 7, backwards 7, whatever... i know what you're talking about so why does it matter? shut up about it

The verdict.

Its a term that orginally came from skateboarding. It naturally made its way into snowboarding and refers to the following.

A 'Cab' spin means that you spin switch frontside. I.E. towards your toes.

So instead of saying Switch frontside nine, boarders simply have to say 'Cab' nine.

The same way we dont really use the term 'cork' anymore, its just the spin.

exactly! who cares what other sports call their tricks? not me. I call it switch just because I have gotten used to that. It doesnt matter as long as people know what you are talking about

Some of you people are really stupid, a half cab is going off fakie and landing regular. Cab is goin off fakie and landing fakie. liek you can't do a half cab 7, you can only do a cab 7.
