Wtf ebay??

ok hopefully someone here knows what the deal is im gettin heated.

i've been trying to buy a fuckin crybaby wah pedal for like 2 weeks, but every time i do i get sniped by these fuckers. and every auction i look at the high bidder is someone with a name like e***r. what the fuck is this, its always one letter followed by *** and then another letter. go look at some auctions and you'll see that almost every high bidder has a name like that, and they usually have very little feedback. Then when i click on their name to look at bidding history, they have bid on like 100 things in the last hour. what the FUCK is this? is it scammers? people bidding up their own auctions? ebay trying to get things bid up so they make more money? whatever it is its fucking sketchy and its pissing me off, i've been trying to find a good deal on a wah pedal and every fucking time these douche bags bid it up its like impossible to get a good deal now. ebay really has been going downhill, so many people i know have been scammed or caught someone trying to scam them, im about to just say fuck it. i searched google to try to find some info on it but had no luck.
 
i think its just a private account marc would be m***c or whatever, but i was like what the fuck when i first saw it too
 
thats what i figured at first too, i guess that makes sense, but what puzzles me was the ridiculous amount of bids they have accompanied by 0 or little feedback, and all the bids were in the musical intstruments section of ebay. sketchy business if you ask me, i think ebays bidding up all the auctions so they make more lewt
 
i kinda doubt they are just private accounts cause ive never seen one liek that before and coincidentally every single account with the high big on the wah pad is d***e or whatever...seems like its some kind of computer generated account that raises the amount people pay like you said. it's really weird that it's only happening with these pedals though or so it seems. you should email or call a rep from ebay or something thats fucked up
 
your name also becomes asterisked when you bid over 1000 dollars or some number. they probably have esnipe, which places a bid the last minute.
 
auctions that are expected to go into high dollar amounts automatically protect everybody's name involved for some reason. When I was bidding on music equipment it felt like in every auction I was bidding against the same person, but it actually just assigns the same hidden name to the first bidder and the second bidder and etc.
 
Shill Bidding, sellers do it to increase the amount people will bid on their shit from another account

I only do BIN on evilbay, and the rare legit auction here and there
 
alright bro, same thing happened to me and i looked it up. the name thing, yeah that happens to everyone for privacy reasons, but the part where your being sniped is pretty simple.

Your not being sniped. When your asked to put in your bid you have a choice. Go a few cents higher like it says, or go a few dollars higher. if you choose the few dollars higher, this is how much your willing to pay, not how much your going to pay. To everyone else it looks like you went a few cents high when really you could have bid 20 bucks.

Example:

Say your buying something for 30 bananas. You go to place bid and you put in $50 because you only have $80 on hand. now to everyone else whos bidding it says your a highest bidder and the bid is only $31. Untill someone bids over $80 its going to keep saying that theyv been outbid and the bid on the auction screen is going to keep going up.

I know sounds confusing but hope it helps
 
i know exactly what ur talkin about. i found some used bindings i was willing to pay $80 for so thats what i entered. then no one else bid on them so i picked them up for something like $45 without shippin. ebay works harder for the buyer, not the seller.
