WTF Alpental? How about an upgrade.

First day of full mid week operations at Alpental and a fucking chair falls off of chair 2. A whole fucking chair. Sure, it was on the bullwheel but still, a full chair fell off the cable and on to the ground! At what point do you upgrade a lift? I like that its a double, and I REALLY like that its slow. Alpental's inbounds and BC doesn't get tracked out as fast. But the chairs need to stay on the cable. That, I think, should be a priority!

Anybody know how long people were stranded?

Wow thats crazy. does anyone know how long it will be down? and this has to happin right when we start getting some snow!

All legit complaining aside. Riding today was epic if you were willing to hike. Bluebird at the top and fresh tracks everywhere. It was even deep enough to hit the windmill waterfall today (but nobody did).

I have to wonder about what's going to happen for the rest of the season... Is it gonna be running? Is it safe? How long are they gonna be inspecting it?

This reminds me of the Blackcomb Gondola. Scary stuff, let's hope they can get it sorted out and solved.

I think it's time to, GET JESSE

Haha I was on that lift with my dad... second grade I believe... like 14 years ago maybe? Got a free seasons pass outta the deal though so it was worth it. Fucking scary havin them through the rope with a 2ft 2x4 tied to it then straddling it and hopin off to be lowered down.... must of been super scary for those unfortunate enough to be evacuated from right before the end of the lift... right over that gully its soo high up right there.

i remember being up there when that happened. i had just gotten off a couple minutes before, so i got really lucky.

ah dude wtf i was on thunderbird 10 years ago when it stopped and we had to be taken down by a rope thing, why didnt i get a free pass too?

When we got down my dad was joking around with one of them and said "how bout a free seasons pass?" and they were just like "sure". It was tits.

No, its the huck right to skiers right of chair 2 in the first 300 yards.

Haha, me and my friends rode on either side of the missing chair. We asked the guy with dreads which chair it was, and hes like "oh, its right here, your chair."

gotcha. landing looks pretty flat but that chute when it fills in looks awesome. is there also a name for the band right below the chair at rollen?

At Bridger Bowl, when the wind hits 45 mph or greater, The Deer Park Chairlift loses at least one chair. The shut it down when winds hit about 30, so no safety worries. One chair flies off and they freak out? Pussies ...

Yeah riding up on either side of the missing chair was sketchy yesterday. The lifty was like oh yeah heres the chair that fell off and it was just lying off to the side haha. Yes everyone stay away from chair 2. (more pow for me)

I hope you are either being sarcastic or a really good skier, because for just about anybody, that cliff is a gnary drop with a pretty flat landing. I'm assuming you have seen it in person since this is regionals, but that is def. not "hardly a huck".

it depends which way you take it, but the way most people go it is 20 ft max, most of the time it is around 15 ft. There is one way you can take it for a good 35-45 ft though, landing is pretty good it just gets tracked out fast so you have to send it on the first run.

*claim* I dropped it a few years ago and everyone in the life line (huge pow day) counted down from 5, was fun as hell

Claim!

Its pretty big. And its pretty gnar coming into it too. Maybe its only 20 ft or so, but thats only small when you're in front of your computer.

My friends and i were there but we were fourth chair to the top so we got off pretty quick. Our snowboarder friend however was in the middle and it took him three hours...but still one of the best days of the season. we found a good 25 ft huck right before the powder bowl.

Alpy BC is way crazy right now. Low snow, and creeks everywhere. There's good snow to be had, but watch where you are going.

Do you tour? We should go hit up the north face of Snoqualmie Mountain. It was okay earlier when they had gotten less snow. And the skin up there is so epic!
