WTB: Tamron 17-50mm non-VC

Just got a T2i, looking to put a decent lens on it. I'm sort of limited on cash (getting into photography/video probably wasn't a good idea) and am kind of hoping to find a decent deal used.

Let me know what you've got!

I'm also a little confused. On here, it seems the non-VC Tamron is the one to have, but in skate perception they all swear by the VC version. Why is that?

eh it's really subjective. A co-worker of mine prefers the VC version for the choppy effect it gives in video mode. It gives it kind of a fast shutter/low frame rate feel, which can work great with certain videos

extra few hundred bucks for a choppy effect... worth it debateable.

unless you take lots of pictures don't get the vc, save your money for another piece

I can see retards on SP buying into that, but in reality thats so fucking stupid.

I could care less what he makes, doesnt mean i think spending an extra couple hundred dollars for whatever effect he desires is stupid, apparently hes rich as fuck so he doesnt care. Not sure why you're being so defensive, i was just saying i think thats stupid.

rich as fuck from making videos for a living > eheath thinks you're a retard.

stick to the ski industry bud

Wow, you can't fucking read dude.

1. I don't care how much he makes

2. I think his opinion is stupid, that doesnt actually matter in any context, he does what he wants to do, i do what i want to do

3. skill =/= money... connections/networking/whoring out = money and thats fine, i make plenty of money to make me happy right now.

now kindly take your condescending bullshit out of here "stick to the ski industry bud" are you fucking kidding me dude? go sit on a flag pole you cunt

Still looking, trying to find one in the $200ish range if possible.

Once I find a Tamron my next lens will be a fish eye of some sort, so if you want to bump this thread with those that would be cool.

-snork

Hahaha oh god both of you two shut the fuck up...

Also, I'd go with the non-vc version either way. VC/IS/VR/whatever doesn't matter worth a shit even at 50mm on a crop body.

once you get up and over around the 100mm range, you can get weird with VC or IS or VR or whatever, but anything below that? You shouldn't have a single issue with it whatsoever, and definitely not with video.

Especially if you're shooting skiing - where you'll probably be stopping down a lot and using filters to darken the scene - rather than worrying about stupid shit like IS which only matters for long lenses and being able to shoot a subject at 1/10th of a second rather than 1/15th in a dark hallway.
