yea, i dont know much about bikes, and i wanted to get into htis for the summer. im on a budget, butill deff spend wat i have. i know somethings about bikes and models. just make propositions and ill get back to you. i have somethings i could maybe trade...yea. thanks

what kind of riding do you plan on doing? plan on climbing for your descents? how important is jumping to you?

i wont be doing big jumps at all. and ill be biking up and down, so weight isnt a huge issue. idk. i just want a bike thats solid and fast and can do small jumps

well, there are a lot of companies you could look at then, and it really depends on what your tastes/needs are. Kona, Norco, Brodie, Balfa and others make beefier hardtails with longer travel suspension forks and beefier cranks and bottom brackets for big drops and jumps, but you would be paying the price with added weight. Specialized, Klein, Trek, Giant, Gary Fisher, and so on still make traditional mountain bikes, more geared towards XC riding, you pedal up to pedal down.

id go with the specialized hardrock because its a good beginner bike it also doesnt have the feel of an xc bike where your hunched over when you go off jumps but if you start to progress as i did your going to need some more heavy duty stuff it cant take big drops and jumps if you feel your heading in that direction.

i hoenstly would not recomend a specialized hardrock for some simple reasons. i started out on one and as soon as i got into biking i needed a different bike with a bigger fork and such. the bottom bracket and crank on them are not very good, i bent both arms and bb(bottom bracket) on it about 10 degrees. and if u plan on doing whips or attempting 180s your back rim on that will be killed. also the bikes come stock with the MZ series forks from marzocchi, now marzocchi is a fuckin sick companie but that line of forks is on the lower end and you can bottom them out if u drop like a 6-8 stair and the MZ race i have heard to have a notrius super robound issue shooting you back up after it compresses.

just my 2 cents

i had a specilzed hotrock in gold that just sat in my garrage never used and finally i let this russian kid use it for a pick up in the PJs

i got my weed but i never got the bike back or i would sell it in a sec for mad cheap

I have a Heckler set up with a 36 VAN RC2 and DHX coil I'll be selling in a couple months for around $2,000 if you can wait.

i have a 04 mt cycle rumble hardtail, 03 Jrt (7 inch travel) in pretty good shape. its a medium, (im 510), its set up more for DH and freeriding, but its a really fun bike for fast gnarly singletrack, and it climbs surprisingly well. if you so desired, it can easily be set up for more XC riding, and the seatpost extends to a fine climbing position. hit me up if your intersted.
