WTB- look/rossignol JIGS

good luck buying one let alone finding someone who will sell you one. Shops here atleast aren aloud the give away or sell the jigs. and they are $$ for the shops too.
 
you could purchase one through a rep if you know them at least pretty well. but they're expensive. just spend some time and make a nice one out of cardboard and keep it. don't drill through it, just use a punch to mark the holes. that way you won't trash the cardboard.
 
They are a couple of hundred dollars each. If you are serious about buying one, I would buy directly from the company (which means you will likey have to go through a shop). If you buy a used one, you risk getting one that is bent or warped.

The new rossi/look hole pattern is exactly the same as the lower-end (axium) binding, which has been around for several years. This jig usually fits the fks model as well. The older pivot style is a different jig altogether.

If you do find somewhere that sells them used or cheaper than new from the dealer, please let me know.

Word, jigs are expensive as hell, plus extemely hard to find unless you know a rep who likes you at least a decent amount.

Better option is to get someone to make you a 'jig' out of hard plastic...just go to the shop or get someone you know to set the jig for your BSL and drill it, it's also nice for fat skis because you can measure and center it on the ski, where older jigs won't fit skis with a waist of about 80 or more.
 
haha wow, yeah. i know that theyre expensive for shops and all that but yea. an older pivot jig was selling on TGR, i messaged the guy but no response yet. i was planning the cardboard thing as backup
 
id just do that and take a copy of your original in case itgets fucked up and try and get the pattern into something more durable
 
i worked at a shop during ski season i know theyre expensive, even for shops, i just thought id give it a try. my boss was pissed he had to spend mad bank on a new jig to fit ~125 mm skis haha
 
you can modify, my buddy has one

why not make your own out of sheet metal? or just eyeball the mount, ive done it lots
 
i used a wide jig when i still worked at a shop, and mounted those ages ago...peeps need to stop assumin.
 
The older ones are definetly narrower. You can get feet that slide on to the existing legs of the jig that are meant to work on much wider skis.

Again if anyone finds out where to get such things, let me know.

Face the second fact: they're done with the rotating heelpiece in ALL bindings next year, including race stock.

its what shops use to mount skis...u put the boot in the jig u want to mount to, line it up at the desired mounting point and the drill holes are all set up for you.
 
i heard the p18s will still have the pivot heel for one more year. The 12's, and 15's are going to be px heel piece

this is gona make the pivot race stocks real valuable
 
make your own. its not rocketscience. dont use cardboard tho, go to a plastics store and get some like 1/4 inch styrene or polyethalene. since all the look toes use pretty much the same mount pattern, thats easy. and for the heels, you can just overlap them. if they are just gonna be for your boots, you dont need to make it adjustable. but if you wanted to make a fully adjustable one that is pretty much exactly like the real ones, its not that difficult. could definatly be done. shit, if theres enough intrest, maybe ill build and sell them? would anyone be interested in something like that? with the bit guide and shit, adjustable for boot sole length?
 
not true. I was at SIA and everything was PX. even the 18. PX's all over dynastar's race wall...it was a sad sight.
 
as ive stated, if i cant buy em ill make some. as for your idea to build them, would be a good idea but i dont think look/rossi would be too happy
 
on a small scale it wouldnt be an issue. sure, if i started producing them, then YES. but ive worked in shops and never had a need for homemade ones. also, since ive started building skis with inserts, a good jig may come in real handy, so i may just construct one/some.

and also, if its just a one time mounting deal for real fatties or something, just use a real fine point drafting marker, and a good ruler. its possible to mount bindings VERY true in about an hours time with just a marker, a ruler, the bindings and the boots. specially on skis with easy and nondirect forward pressure settings.
