hey im getting in to dh and i want to get a stinky, at least an 05 or better. anyone know where i can get one for cheap. the cheapest one i have found so far is 800 for an 05. i looked on pinkbike and all the bikess pricees are meh.

Okay, then how much travel are you looking for? 6" minimum? I don't have a bike for you, but just some pointers to help your thread.

you should be more specific. like do you want dual crown or single crown forks. hydrolic or mechanical brakes. just tryin to help

i dont really care cuz im just starting dhing so ill prolly go with single crown. just a stinky for cheap is all i want

If you live near Culver City or Woodland Hills California check out wheel world. They hve a website but all the bikes on sale including the stinky are walk ins only.

Also what kind of stinky are you looking for
Stinky Deluxe
Stinky
Stinky Air
The stinky series is a good series but they are not Downhill specific. If u want a downhill specific bike from kona then check out the Stab series

Kona is based out of Ferndale, WA which is 10-15 minutes south of the border, so about 3-4 hours south of Whistler, and maybe they have some cheaper deals on newer bikes.

alrgiht cool, im in Coeur d Alene so that drive is still kinda far, but i might check it out. i still think that the full bike i can get is 800 dollers so is that cheap?

I picked up an 05 stinky, for $650 can last year.. had some decent upgrades on it.. barely ridden, the dude just wanted to move it since he had a new bike already.. that was off pinkbike..

good luck looking. I'd second pinkbike, craigslist, eBay for places to try

Look beyond kona they make sick bikes and i would recommend one but you should keep your eye open for other sick deals. If u can spend a little more than a thousand then it would be easier. But i agree check craigslist just be careful

800 bucks for a ready to ride stinky is a pretty good deal. local shops may have some that they are looking to move but i doubt you will find them much cheaper then that

Ive got a Kona Stab, 05 fram with a triple crow stratos fork, 7" travel, hydraulic brakes, vanilla schock in Seattle, I'll let it go for 800. If you're ever planing on going through Seattle you can buy it off me.

hey homestyle,

the bike you're looking for does not exist for the price you're looking to pay. you're going to need to pay at least $1000 for a decent bike that will be reliable enough for DH.

cheers!

ya thats what everyone says, but my buddy won state for dhing and he can give me his old stinky 05 for 800

nice. but be careful

buying DH bikes from racers is not always the greatest idea. those bikes get abused beyond belief. almost as bad as buying a rental bike

If u live near a mountain any mountain that rents downhill bikes u can usually pick one up at the end of the year. The problem with that though is usually they have been beaten to shit. If u ever fell like takin a drive to Moab, Utah then they have tons of used bikes at different stores.

I was just biking in moab a week ago and now i am in sun Valley. Moab kicks sun valleys ass when it comes to biking. But Moab is a small town with about 12 bike shops and the bike shops have some sick used bikes for sale and at the end of the season they will probably sell there rentals
