So for the big air the athletes decided becuase the prize money was chips compared to last year, Jon, Sammy and TJ donated ALL their winnings to Marc-Andre. Probably the most unselfish thing they could have ever done. Pretty dope though.
 
the superpipe was absolutely amazing, there was huge amplitude and badass tricks in there. I definitely think Candide should have taken it, his first 2 runs were amazing. Big air was nuts too, jon was smooth as usual.
 
No, they did a 2 run qualifiers then a 3 jump final which had to be a 5 then 7 then 9, pretty cool. Jon's 7 was smooth as hell.
 
was anyone else like, ridiculously impressed by sarah's cork 9s?

like, honestly, that was probably the sickest thing i've ever seen a female skier/boarder do. FUCK, i freaking loved that.

and i'm suprised as hell that simon's switch (cork?) 7 didn't get him into the finals, that was the smoothest trick of the night.

and in the finals, i can very honestly say that the "5" round got me the most stoked. tj's first hit...good lord, soooo large, and soooo incredibly smooth
 
i think forcing the riders into doing tricks is pretty wack. kind of takes the freedom and creativity out of it.

just my 2 cents...
 
oh yes, because the freedom and creativity of ONLY doing switch 10s is something the athletes have demonstrated they really really take into consideration when deciding on a trick to do...
 
but the only reason they are doing 10s is cause the judges judge that trick well.

if the judging were to emphasize on style and award equal amounts of points to both technical aspects as well as overall style and say creativity, then that would allow athletes to do different tricks than just a technical one, such as a switch 10
 
Jon didnt't kangaroo because the jump was not big enough.....I thought that the big air format was sick because it kinda put the rider on the spot and they had to perform. Probably the sickest weekend of my entire life.
 
yeah that was the greatest weekend. mike douglas won the back 9 and donated some of his $10,000 to marc-andre. then hibbert threw a double backflip in the superpipe for the super hit. crazy shit! i liked the big air format but i thought simon should have been in the top three. Sammy did so well though, he stomped everything. Then Sarah blew me away with her corked 9. i am so glad she steped up the progression of the female industry!
 
dorey won superhit, with candide second i would guess, candide did probably 10 flawless flairs then would deck on purpose then 3 back into the pipe, hibbert had some epic crashes
 
yeah man i was standing right there...

Candide would come into that wall and do an alley-oop flatspin about 7 or 8 ft out, then purposely land on the deck, then 360 revert out into the pipe...so sick...
