WSI Big Air comp format...

word on the street is that the WSI's Big Air comp format is complete head to head tourney... 1 vs 10, but each round the competitors have to pick a trick out of a hat 3-9, NO 10s... and whoever does the trick the best wins... if thats true that would be super sick

That's Siiick! Props to Mckeeman for coming up with that idea and getting it in place!!

if it's about who can throw the trick better than 10's shouldn't be in it...

I mean how much style can you put in a 10? (other than who can get it corked more).

sounds cool but it should be like "switch 7" and then you do any version of a sw 7 whether it be cork, rodeo, normal, misty, bio, whatever ,

if its super specific and tells you exactly what you have to do, thats kinda lame

what's the difference between a misty, bio, and rodeo (of the forward rotating sorts)?

i'm not actually serious... but i am.

if its simply about style, then 10's would weed about about 75% of the competition who cant throw a stylie cab 10

I agree, this sounds like a sick format. Also, the jump they usually have set up in the village for WSI isn't that big, so 10s look pretty hucked. I like that they are keeping it between 3s and 9s. Props to McKeeman for coming up with the idea.

Super cool idea. they shouldn't jsut include spins though. Make it backs and fronts and lincolns too!

While I hate the switch ten just as much as the next guy, it seems counterproductive to say you CAN'T throw them.

I understand why they are doing that, because they want to keep the spinning down. But its also killing a skiers creativity and origonality by giving them stupid rules.

I say let them spin as much as you want, and then judge the tricks using criteria that the judges feel is right and progressive for the sport. Then if the skiiers have to adapt to the judging, their tricks will change. Instead of telling them right off the bat what to do.

Well, i wouldnt mind if people could throw a cab 10 if that's what they pick. This way not everyone will do cab 10 but if they have to do it, it will have to be realy good so they still can win there heat.

i think 360s will be stupid tho I would throw omething like a 360 quad spread cause i dont like doing corked threes and no matter how sick a 360 with a grab is, I still think it's not a cool trick as I use it to test jumps .

kinda dumb but yea I,m stupid

ok, wild guess, dont get angry im not dissing you, but since you said you didnt like cork 3's does that mean your not good at them? cause then you got something to learn when it comes to three's and its no longer stupid:)

im thinking this sounds sick, cuz its gonna show who the best all around rider is, isntead of just a 1080 huckfest.... this really shows who has the best bag of tricks.

so everyone has to do the trick that is selected out of the hat? it shoudl be like they pick a trick for that round and everyone does that trick and whoever did the best version of that trick wins the heat. is that what it is?

I can do them, well i used to do them, them figured out that corks are not my thing so I decided to try different stuff.

It's true that i suck at corked 3's and the reason is because i dont like them much and I,m never taking time to work on them.

anyway,I,m not in that comp so it's not abiout what I think but about theguys that will destroy wthe big air jump on that night.

so this shit went through or what? I havent heard the official call, but i sent an email to lindsay obrien a while back...

I wont take all the credit for it though, myself and mauro nunez came up with the idea over a beer.

oh yeah and the idea was not to have a set trick, but rather a rotation, then you can choose what trick or grab. ie 540, sw 720, with whatever style you ooze the best...

yea ! and daffys spreads and cossacks! whoever can do the most styley cossack wins round one...........

or in further progression a front flip could be drawn as trick for finals ! wouldnat that be progressive and way more stylish thana sw 10...............

mmm thats pretty basic...misty is basically a front flip...spinning. bio never fully flips...and rodeo is not forward corking...it's side.

Why not get marked down hard for doing the same trick in another round? That way you're not FORCING anyone to do a certain trick, but you're making it very unappealing.
