Ok, so heres the deal, my parents are geting divorced and are selling bout of my cars. i am ging to live with my mom, and i am going to get a new car, a WRX STI. im going to do some mods to it, and i was wondering if you guys think i should do anything else performance wise. im on a budget of about 10k after the price of the car so keep that in mind when you sugest. heres the list of mods im already set on:

> apex'i N1 head, mid pipe and cat back

> HKS intake and K&N filter

> re[lace stock intercooler with a front mount intercooler, 4 core.

> apex'i AVC-R mangement system

> apex'i boost conrtoler

> upgrade all turbo piping

> upgraded blow-off valve

> carbon fiber hood

> carbon fiber trunk lid with remounted spoiler

> sparco tournio racing seats

> STI short throw shifter

at this point im not upgradeing the turbo because it can handel much more than that.

this is the exact one im looking at getting so keep that in mind.

The sti is amazing. But why would you need to work on it besides dressing the outside up if thats what your into

It already has the fastest 0-30 out of any car on the market besides the McLaren...save your money for skiing and invest in a really good radar detector

with those mods that car will fuckin kill anything on the street. the only thing i would upgradeother than what you said is front drilled disc brakes, maybe bigger with bigger pads? the drilled disc look super badass too, it's a nice little touch, i think anyway.

if i was loaded off my ass, i really have always wanted too geta 2 door impreza 2.5 rs, and drop in a UK sti Version 6 engine, and pimp the shit out of it. now that would be a sleek car a friggin sleeper. imagine loses to a car that looks like a 2.5 rs and your driving a wrx sti....awesome.

^ you might be right, i can't remeber if the brembo brakes are?... they are probably slotted, but not actually drilled. i have just seen larger fully drilled disc and they looked hot. mind you the stock brakes if there slotted, you might not noticed that much more stopping power, and the difference in overheating the disc or pad probably won;t happen, so you probably don;t need to upgrad. but it might be something to look into.

yeah my buddy drives a rs with a sti motor swap in it, fun fun cars, im now bitterly jealous, one thing with the scoobies is that you need a good tuner, some mods will even hurt sti's cause they have been so carefully set up already, but with tuning you start to make gains. good call with the brands, at least your not all 'i wanna be paul walker' and shit, that bugs me, keep it clean dude, your aware that with some front mounts your gonna have to lose the foglights for the piping right

note to self avoid blowing motor....again
 
-the blitz nur spec exhaust is far better then the n1 but if I were you I'd keep the sti exhaust because its big enough to handle the turbo upgrading you plan to do as well as it dosent sound like the fart can you plan to put on it.

-forget the cf trunk(thats just gay) and the sparco seats(the sti's are better in every possible way)

and if you get a body kit or any neon I'll kill your dog

i just like the apex name, i trust it. and yeah i know on the intercooler ill lose the fog lights, but i can leave the covers if i want. i could just put in some of those realy small aftermarket fog lights. and that car will never be kited or have neon. but why no cf trunk?

booo the trunk lid because whats it cost?? 600ish, and really its gonna save maybe 12lbs, so basicly you are gonna pay all that money and deal with the hastle of instaling it just to say 'yah, thats right.. its carbon fiber'. the hood is cool though caus the hood scoup looks like ass and since it will no longer serve a purpose it shouldnt be there. but its your car so do whatever you want with it.

I myself own and tune a stage 2, soon to be stage 4 WRX. My suggestion to spend the 10k even is to get:

1. Perrin Uppipe

2. Bellmouth Downpipe, eg. Invidia, Perrin, Helix

3. TurboXS UTEC piggyback ECU

4. Upgraded turbo pending what responce/power output you want (VF 34, 22, 23, FP 18/20g, FP green, APS SR series, etc)

5. Upgraded intercooler, for turbo sizes up to a VF34 go with a bigger TMIC (APS, TurboXS), or with bigger turbos, eg. 18/20g, green, go with a FMIC

6. tune your car

7. coilovers, or springs..pending how serious you are. Prodrive, Eibach, Tein make good products

8. Cusco rear sway bar and strut tower bar

9. gauges, EGT, Boost, Air/Fuel

10. Turbo timer *ONLY* if you aftermarket turbo si oil cooled, otherwise a TT w/ a water cooled turbo EG. VF39 (STi stock tubo) is pointless

11. get a short shifter if you don't ahve one

12. modify your injectors to flow higher cc (only if you ahve upgraded turbo and can tune to accomidate the injectors)

13. Do not get a aftermarket blow of valve that vents atmospherically, it will throw off your A/F ratios and cause you to run a bit rich, you stock BOV is good for 20psi

14. Do not get a intake, unless of cource you need one to accomidate a aftermarket

intercooler. It will make you run leaner

15. Never get a MBC, it's basically cheep EMS w/o tuning the a/f ratios or timing to accomidate the increased boost

Theres a million things you can do to build your STi up. But driving lessons are definately the best place to put your money first. Drive safe, you don't need to drive agressivly on the street because you have a fast car. People who are interested in your car already know it's fast. People who arn't will probably think your immature. Just take it easy.

FYI the USDM STi brakes are Brembo Gran Tourismo brakes. You will never need to upgrade these or the rotors. Unless in the event of wear of cource. The stock pads on the GT's run around 200 I believe, maybe 400 for the whole set. Calipers and rotors run a shade under 2k. They are fine brakes.

 
^yah deffinatly set aside a few hundred for some dyno time but I was assuming you knew that.

wouldnt the tuning even out a/f ratio? or will the intake always run lean? anyway aftermarket intakes usually rob low end power.

Yes, if you have a local AWD dyno. By all means get a tune there, ECUTek is nice. An intake is necessary if you upgrade to a FMIC. Otherwise it will cause your car to run leaner. There are many WRX's turning in easy 12's with the stock airbox. I personally have a Perrin big MAF short ram intake sitting in my garage. It will be pointless for em to install it untill I get my FMIC in. IF you tune with a wideband o2 senser, then yes, you can help even the AFR's outa bit. But if your going to be unign on a dyno I would sugest you get most of your modifications in. That way you don't have to pay for another tune once yothe rest of your mods are put on. Most tuner shops will ahve you vuy a licence and charge you 500ish for a tune and software install. Then charge you 100-150 for any tunes after that. it all depends ont eh software they deal and/or tune.

But above all, do not get a aftermarket BOV that vents atmospherically if you don't need one. You will loose approx. 3 MPS due tot he rich condition and will shoot fireballs thru your exhaust (provided it is catless) between shifts or at certain throttle adjustments during various RPM's.

My suggestion is that you do nto mod your car for awhile after purchasing it. Instead, learn to handle the power the STi delivers stock. Which is plenty! It should take you 3 months or so (depends on driving expirience) to get a good, confident feel on the STi. You will know when you are there. Just don't kid yourself. More power without the ability to harness it and hold it down will just increase your chances for trouble. If your serious, buy race/driving lessons. Definately the best place to put your money. Once you are done, you will be glad you shelled out the 400ish dollars to know how to handle your car.

I myself didn't modify my WRX till quite some time after I aquired it. During that time I ran a few SCCA autocross events when I was not working. Definately good, safe expirience there.
