Hey Brian,
Hope this first round of finals isn't the chore I remember it being. That week was no fun. You must be looking forward to some homecooked meals by now.
I know you like to write about skiing, so after the holidays wrap up I want to offer you a chance to do some writing for NBC's Olympics site, specifically for a blog called North of the Border. This blog is all about what visitors will find in Vancouver, up in Whister, and around British Columbia at large. Your main interest is skiing and you've been to Whistler before. If you're interested in writing a blog post, I'd love to hear what the snow was like up there. What was your favorite part of the trip? Did you ski any of the steep runs that have been turned in the Olympic downhill course? What were your impressions of Whistler as a mountain and as a town?
I think the big-seller here is I'm not looking to post an essay -- just short stories around 300-400 words, which only amounts to a few paragraphs.
There's no money in this unfortunately, but your work could be published on NBC's website. I'm the editor so I can help you with ideas and a focus if you want.
All that being said, I know you have a lot going on with your school work. I don't want to take you away from that so if this tacks on too much, feel free to say "thanks, but no thanks." No worries, really.
Best,
David

i dont know if your planning on being a writter, but thats a hell of an addition to your resume.

i'm not sure yet. i'm a comm major so that's probably what i'll end up doing. regardless, my stoke level is through the roof.

and to the other guy asking how he discovered me:my brother paul went to college with him. over thanksgiving break paul read one of my english papers from this semester (on how skiing has changed in the last decade). he was impressed, and sent a copy to dave (the NBC guy).got that email from dave today. guess he liked it.

i hope you take this opportunity... these kind of things don't come around everyday. and fuck yea that is awesome!
