Wow, the Teton Gravity Research forums are BAD.

I have friends who love NS even though they don't ski or snowboard. NS has a hilarious community and a bunch of people with a variety of interests. I've learned about and had my interest sparked on so many different topics because of NS even though I've only been around here for a couple years. Skiing has kinda taken a backseat on NS but I'm cool with that.
 
Oh, I agree completely, I'm just saying- different demographics altogether.

I biased on both sides tbh. I love both places but you don't hear TGR crying about NS not being nice enough to them because they quite simply don't give a fuck. I say NSers should take a hint and do the same. Crying about it does nothing- possibly even making it worse.

 
I think the majority of NSers don't give a fuck about TGR. We are just stating a fact that website has some of the most ignorant close minded assholes I have ever seen.

Sure if you go there and only focus on the aspects of skiing they consider to be legit, you will fit right in. But as soon as you try to break that realm of normal they do a witch hunt on you. This website is pretty fucking judgmental as well when it comes to judging style, but at least everyone here is pretty much open to all forms of free skiing.
 
Well fwiw I like NS for what it is.

Different stroked for different folks. If someone doesn't like TGR, just stay here. Seems simple to me!

 
Ignorant closed minded assholes, eh? Have you ever by chance clicked on any political or gun thread on here? Doesn't seem like it. NS has those people too dude. Just because they aren't open to wearing 4xl hoodies for their next tour doesn't make them an asshole, it means they value function over form and that is absolutely their option.

Also, I can tell you've never really spent any time over there. Lots of people love freeskiing, park, throwing tricks, etc... But it's different. There's more. Much more information there on anything actually relevant to ski gear. Go ahead, go check out Tech Talk and compare it to Gear Talk. Right now in Ski Gabber there's multi page discussion about who's the most stylish skier- and yes that is a bitchmade topic that would get you fucking laughed right out of the forums over there while it's totally normal here.

I think you're being dramatic personally, but whatever. No worries either way imo, that's why we have both places.

 
I am more of a TGR 'type' of skier than NS these days, but really the vibe over there sucks. I don't care why it is, I'm not crying about, it just makes me not want to login over there.

Seems like the majority of people there are weekend warrior wannabes, who like to pose about how cool they are in just the way some kids pose over here, it's only their conception of cool (gangster v granola) that is different.

TGR is kind of like a fraternity. There is a price of admission. You can't just post a link to your blog(quite possibly the worst thing to do) and expect people to blow you.

If you got laughed out of one sub forum, and don't have skin thick enough to deal with it, then it's not meant for you. There are probably a lot more Mags among you on NS than you realize. And you kooks sound just as ignorant when you say "granola".

At the end of the day...OP=Pussy. Grow a thicker skin.
 
I find NS to be a lot more friendlier than the TGR forums. I don't hate TGR as a whole. There is some great content posted in the forums, but jesus christ they come across as the biggest dick sucking douchbags on the interwebs.
 
I was interested in joining tgr because I ski mostly backcountry and that seemed like the place to be. After snooping around on their forums I came to the conclusion that they are all a bunch of middle aged, horny, Perverted fucks that want everyone to post pics of tits cause they don't get to see them outside the realm of the internet. They think they're gods gift to the earth cause they "earn their turns". And on another note why do they call themselves maggots? It's fucking creepy. Ns is where it's at. End rant.

and an exodus ensued the most excellent tgr420 provided one

tgr used to be more of a community more irl interaction summits etc

after some dickweeed blogger/writer rob sad fuckin story gave up the stash to gapers changed a bit

got kinda political till they put the sad stokeless babblefuckers in a closet

still pretty community based . Ived skied partied and fished with a few hundy prob close to 5,damn good peeps

never met one i didn't like

Who cares just ski what you want how you want, everyone in this thread is catty and whiny.

Op I understand why you were surprised, but TGR just has a different culture and therefore the same reaction cant be expected, oh well
