Ya I guess your right he was out of line but it is free speech. I am not an expert on racism and have never really experienced racism myself but what happened in the past and what is going on now are two different things. Almost every black person I am friends with, check that, every black person I am friends with is intensely racist at heart even more so than any of my white friends. Racism goes both ways and if you want end racism stop making such a big deal and try to see people for who they are. Things like affirmative action just create a greater void between the races and don't help racist behavior.

I am kinda starting to dig a hole and get to deep in this one I will have to think about it for a little while and get back to ya.
 
yah, I'm gunna have to say holy shit...I watched that and expected comments about how disgusted people were, not expecting them to bring up the double standards of the black and white relationship...richards was not making a point about speech or anything like that, he made a grandstanding speech/attack that would only be appropriate at a fucking Klan rally...Fuck you kramer
 
Wowwwww because they choose to be offended? Or because they were called the word as a degrading insult for hundreds of years as they were forced to perform excruciating labor against their will, which in turn has held them back in society ever since because of lingering racist attitudes?

How can you say the word doesn't hurt anyone when you never experienced any of the pain?

I see what your saying but I'm damn sure no one has experienced the pain that slaves had associated with that word. They wouldn't throw it around freely to each other as a joke becuase that was not something to be joked about. It was like saying I'm going to kill your children. It's not a joke. Anyone who throws that word around know can't be offended by it becuase they don't care enough about it. They just like to pretend to know something about what happened to those people.
 
I'm not saying that you should say it whenever becuase it doesn't mean anything. I'm saying that if black people say it to black people their just being hypocritical. If a black person can say it to another black person then anyone should be able to say it becuase it's not offensive.

If he said it in a more joking matter and then said he's kidding or an apology that works and talked about equality for a lil, but thats not how it was.

as for black people calling us crackers and what not. We dont care because we didnt go through what they did. I know it was in the past but they're proud of their roots and what they've accomplished. (and im not saying "they" as in their a different species or something)

no kidding. I don't know any freed slaves. I am an Irish American I could get all pissed off at the British and potatoes and demand that everyone everywhere respect my heritage and make up for wronging my ancestors by paying me money. But im not. I know that black people are treated unfairly sometimes in America but it is getting better and I feel that having a double standard in racism just fuels the tension between races.

Slavery was super fucked up and the worst thing that ever happened to our culture. I feel horrible that perhaps somewhere in my past some of my relatives might have been slave owners. If someone accused me of being a descendant of a slave owner I would take offense just as much as if someone accused me of being a slave. but I wouldn't turn it into world war three.

On the other hand what he did say was fucked up but he had the right to say it and everyone forgets that those fuckers in the audience were heckling him and being complete ass holes, The audience also had the right to leave and give their negative feed back about the performance. I consider that problem solved, case closed. Both parties involved exercised their constitutional rights and thats the end of that situations. Using that for a catalyst of race relations in America is the next steep if you want to take this discussion further.
 
He clearly said "fifty years ago we would of stuck a fork in your ass"

as in, we, being he and his white buddies, would of done that to black dudes in his youth. a comment like that leads one to think he's probably done it before. he hates black people. look how rigid he is in that, totally not that sorry. he's sorry because his career or what was left of it is completely fucking over.
 
The difference between you, as an Irish American and an African American is that you don't still experience crippling racism today (as far as I know). Also, not to belittle your heritage, but slavery in the U.S. was far more severe than any wrongdoing done to the Irish.
 
And how does that make him not racist? If that was the only thing he could think of to say, then clearly he only thinks racist thoughts, according to your argument. It doesn't matter if someone makes a remark when they're angry or not, a racist statement is a racist statement.
 
The audience obviously didn't think it was a big deal and was looking for the punch line. Why are they ass holes for laughing at a comedy show. Perhaps the audience is the most non racist people in this whole story.
 
Saying nigger or nigga in my opinion is not a damn huge deal. I think it's fucking stupid.

It's just how you use it. How Kramer used it, that was ridiculously racist. Saying words doesn't make you racist. What you believe in does, and you thoughts towards a group people make you racist.

That dude, hates black people with a passion, he is a racist asshole.

In a completely off note though, I think there will be a ridiculously less amount of racists in around 50 years after this last couple of generations die out. I think "black racism" will die out in time, along with all the racists who believe that shit.
 
HA! that would be such a sweet idea and a hillariously racist one at that, ide buy it. i agree with the person who said that its jsut a word that gives everyone more power if blacks let it offend them.

maybe an aristrocrats #2 about racist jokes would be beneficial to help people get over the word.
