i guess you could attribute this to me having a kama arting on the lower end of average, i think. but, i dont really like the system that much, i mean, if i were to say something you disagree with you will -k me, but if i say something you think is rad you'll just quote me and say +1 or something.

karmas wack, but the only reason I like it at all is because this one kid thought he was the man for having over 20,000 that I gaurantee he worked his ass off for, and he posted a thread trying to make a 20,000 K and over cult, and we destroyed his karma down to like 100. epic ns moment

The karma system was implemented to stop the excessive post whoring on here...seemed to work...
 
the way you get good karma is to give good advice and don't not rag on people...don't give them shit for stupid stuff, and don't be a dick if something happens to them...

Natural born assholes like me get low karma because of the way we were born with so much awesomeness that the general consensus can't even handle.
 
i think the karma system is great, expecially for buy stuff off of people. u know how their rep. is on the website for selling usually because if someone does a good job of selling then they usually get karma.

and for the people dissing karma just remember..... karma's a bitch
 
Who cares what TGR has to say. All they do is sit in a circle and jackoff onto piles of FKS 185's while talking about how much cooler it is than NS.

I think karma is a good thing though. The people that don't care can go on without caring, and the people that do might think twice before calling someone a "fuck head" or posting 5,000 times in 2 days. There is no negative, so if you don't like it just do what everyone else does and ignore that number.
 
If karma was actually based on your relative post quality and on what others rate you....it'd be great.

Unfortunately, if you post a million pictures of your 08 OUTERWEAR!!!, a couple of "edits" of you and your friends "seshing" a flat box, review skis and/or boots you either a.) haven't used, or b.) automatically give the gear you own a 10 simply because you in fact own it or it has cool graphicz, well then, you probably have mad ++++KKK!
 
Yes, I totally agree. I don't pay attention to the numbers at all. It doesn't matter to me at all. I don't even look at it. I've been here for 4 years(?) and I just read posts and I know who is an idiot and who is a decent contributing member to NS. I don't even go on NS as much as I used to.
 
case in point: All the pros who are members here that don't even contribute or post at all have the highest karma points.

Anyone else notice the irony of this. Like half of the TGR posts in that thread are like 'fuck off' or something along those lines. Definitly don't see that hate on NS, could karma have caused this?
 
hahaha, i love the responses. it proves that the people on TGR don't give a fuck what other members think of them, because they don't have some silly points system like we do. i used to be on a flash forum, and the points system over there went from -infinity to +15 or something like that. it was a lot better than the karma system here.
 
i dont care much for karma... but thats probably cuz my karma is like 35-ish. haha, if i had good karma i would probably care
 
sorry for dub post i forgot to mention that everytime somebody changed your points on the flash forum, they had to leave you a comment explaining why, which was visible for all the other members to see as well. it prevented people from changing your points based on personal opinions or other such silly things, seeing as how you could get banned for messing with somebody's points for no reason.
 
truth. also, the forums there were kind of comparable to here, with more technical forums (comparable to gear talk here) and the more opinionated forums (NSG, SG, cults). usually, people only changed your points based on what you said in the technical forums, because what you said in the other forums didn't really matter seeing as how it wasn't usually helpful advice or something like that. this way, people knew whether or not you were a helpful member without having to worry about whether or not you had a meaningless difference of opinion with other members.
