Wouldn't mind if I never saw a time lapse in a ski movie ever again.

and a lot of them are the same over and over i mean level 1 had one or two crazy ones this year but all the other ones are just the same

I really like the ones which are creative..not just clouds or traffic etc, but things like a city clock, or low/high tide etc - something different is always good..

But yeah i agree that the same old lapses are getting overdone

I wouldn't mind either. I'm not particularly worked up about it, but it would be nice.

what are you on about?

i like them though, i probably dn't appreciate them as much as the amount of efort put into them deserves though.

berman will start crying when he reads this thread. listen to them though berman, you don't need 10,000 timelapses and pan shots in every movie.

i think it actually makes the movie better, more intersesting to see some movement and there's gonna be move panning in the new level 1 film cos they got sponsored by a cam crane company. i for one am stoked.

well it depends what its about

and if its a good one you cant make it to fast cause then it look like shit cause you cant tell whats happening

I just watched Realtime for the first time and feel like I just got off a roller coaster.

I was just going to say that. The way that Iberg accelerated certain segments of a time lapse then slowed it down...very cool.

they can def be cool when done well and in moderation, but when it is every or every other segment, i think it is a bit excesive.

i love watching them, and filming my own, but i cant help but think they're played so much by ski movie makers, and they are there just as filler in the movie. Theres one or two i've watched that have really added to the movie, such as the teddybearcrisis days, but now i feel there isnt much more they can do with them and that there put into the movie to make it longer. They've become to common in ski movies, like people dont make movies without adding one in and i really think people should start thinking of something else to keep up entertained in the movie, rather than some clouds or busy traffic. I reckon a ski movie should be just skiing basically, and that should be enough to keep the viewer watching and enjoying it, i know i'd much rather see a sick 5 into pow than some traffic and lights...

if you don't like timelapses then you probably didn't like the first realtime trailer that was one giant headache of a timelapse

when filmed, edited, and used properly i think timelapses are really sick, the ones in 1242 and realtime stick out the most in my mind, some of those are so wild...

i enjoy time lapses and that sort of lifestyle shot for the most part, and thought alot of the lapses in realtime were super dope, but i could understand how for some ppl they could get annoying especially when you have random lapses of the city in the middle of a skiing part
the best lapses for me though are when they are mixed with lifestyle shots and flow well with the part in the movie, for ex if theres a part filmed in europe and you open the segment with some super doope europe lifestyle shots and lapses that would work the best and be really sick

Just for the record this thread is a drunken creation/rant. I like many people above mention, I think that unique time lapses when used tastefully (aka not every fucking 45 seconds like in Realtime) can be awesome.

But SO many production companies overuse time lapses way too much.
