Wouldn't it be a great idea for Newschoolers.com to yearly award a "Edit of the year" oscar?

Good idea but 5-10 minutes would be like movies so just 1 minutes to 5 minutes would be good and leave it to ams so jake can't kick everyone ass
 
Newschooler awards? Newsys? Steezys? Llamas? whatever the award is called it'd still be kinda cool. have a bunch of different categories like, best up and comer, best full movie, best short edit, best overall, etc. I think that would be kinda cool

yes that would be sick. and some member awards would be cool as well, like 'comment of the year', 'troll of the year', maybe getting the forums recognized too?

We aren't going to spread oscars every month, make it a big deal, im talking an actual award (trophy/medal).

Olympic 100m defines the sport "sprinting", but xgames big air & slopestyle doesn't define the sport "freestyle skiing". This is an artistic sport, so we should also dedicate awards to the more "artistic" aspect of this activity. What really makes the sport is some nice edits that display the fun, the chillness, the vibes, the freedom, the art, the style, etc of newschool skiing.

Yes, hold it in colorado or utah, somewhat central in the USA. Newschooler schwag should be handed and and there would be prizes, etc. Get a couple compares to sponsor it.

So we actually used to have the NS Awards at IF3. We had categories for edits and such in the really early ones, but it got tricky because IF3 was a film festival. Eventually we made the decision to let the NS awards go, IF3 branded them the IF3 awards and they focused mostly on films with a few side categories for edits.

Its a lot to do a live awards show, which is why we haven't brought it back. We also used to have the JEA! awards which were totally online only. Those were pretty cool too.

I feel like this would also help boost the amount of content coming onto this site. With an am category people will be investing more time into edits and creating content of higher quality. There could also be best photos. Pro and am, park, pow, pov, urban, etc.

Now that is kind of an interesting idea. Not totally impossible, and I'll bring it up. At the very least, we could showcase a couple... maybe if the first year is a raging success we could look at integrating an awards show in the future?

You should have it everymonth and each week it filters through. The first week is open to everyone. The second is the better half. The third week is top 5 or 10 and the last week is winner or top 3. I bet it would get kids to ski harder and come on ns more. You could stil have MOTM just add EOTM (edit of the month)

this wouldn't work well imo because the majority of highly upvoted edits are posted during the winter. unless you're ok with the 12 edits not being the best 12 edits from the previous year....
