Would you ski w/out poles?

Theres this place a half hour from my house that is strictly a terrain park. I dont wanna drive 3hrs to another resort just to ski a hill with 3 runs open. The problem is that this place is primarily a snowboard park. They allow twin tip skis but no poles! I asked why and they gave me some really shitty/funny answers, totally bs. Anyways is it really hard to jib w/out poles, and would you do it? Im kinda desperate.

mmmm... tough decision, what i would do is sneak poles on the mountain. Go on at night and hide them in the woods. OR just tell them to watch you and throw down so then they will let you

I dunno...it cant be that hard, just weird...Thats a weird rule tho

Why do you guys say, 'I have to take a shit' when you just leave it there?' JF learning english

yah dudes, I skied for a whole season without poles, not nearly as cool aye, you can't rip up steep stuff, it's cool sometimes but overall it's dumb, wouldn't recommend it

people look like ridiculas idiots with out poles. it like learning to ski again. but you could try. it harder to initiate spins with out poles.

-Cause im a Cracka-

Oh yeah I lost my poles on the way up the lift this summer, it really sucked, you seriously cant ski without poles!

werd Big Will, yah, poles help your skiing sure so why ski without them?!?! Makes sense. Sometimes it's kinda fun and it's heaps easier to learn grabs without poles. I learnt all my grabs without poles, nothing to get caught up on and stuff, you don't have to worry about holding them as well as grabbing, much easier.

i skied without poles until this year, it helps you get speed, and now a i depend on them after two times out. i noticed some changes in my 360s when i use poles, they're alot cleaner, im in perfect position and im high in the air. the only thing bad about poles is the intire grabbing thing, they get in the way for certain grabs, or maybe the handles on my poles just suck.. haha, whatever.

A sign of a good skiier according to the Federation is the amount of balance and control held when not relaying on poles.

Half the time I find it easier to ride with out them... especially if I'm hiking... But thats me.......

The only time no poles is good when yer first trying to learn a grab. Otherwise poles are greatly desired.

i fooled around with polless skiing last season because i thought i would be able to make cleaner grabs but then i saw some video of myself and it looked really stupid. That rule is totally fucked up.

Just take yer case to every office person there. Be curtious and stuff and if still no, maybe kick their asses into submission? Or get some telescopic poles and put them in a backpack. But that proly wouldn't work aye?

yah dude, kick 'em. But totally aye, I saw video of me skiing and doing double japans without poles and it all looked so lame, it changes your whole position and everything, a tweaked out JF Cusson style mute grab when you hold the non grabbing hand waaaaay up in the air looks gay without poles and with them it is sooooo phatt. Also you just can't do fully steep stuff without poles, you fall over and die and there's nothing cool about that.

don't go to that place then....find somewhere better. or if you're desperate just do it w/o poles...its not bad.

hey, i say that if you want to, then do it, if you don't, then don't. its probably that simple. if it's not then your overthinking it.

Thanks for the input guys, I was just tryin to see what everyone thought. Im sure there are ppl on the hill who check for poles-but clear poles...excuse me while I find a way to make this possible.

Dude, just do it if you huave to. Shit skiing w/o poles is better than no skiing. Worse comes to worse you get a little better at skiing w/ more balance. Hell, maybe you'll be able to spin farther because you'll have to work a little more to set

werd dude, what he said, it is better than not skiing for sure man

HAHAHAH, werd. This one time up at my hill I saw a chick skiing with sticks for poles, leather boots and these old home-made skis out of Oak wood, they were legendary aye. She was Russian and it was very cool.

a boarder park, trying to supress skiers into boarders. they aint going to refuse twins caue that would cut back profit, but they wanna make it more appealing to boarders

Big Willy, you're lucky. I'd rather ski without poles than not be able to use the park at all. there's this place near my house, maybe a 15 minute drive, called Badlands. it's a 'snowboard park' and skiers arent allowed. last year they were, but not this year, and I have a free ticket for there. I can go for park riding, but they suck compared to Badlands, and it's a way longer drive, and more expensive tickets.

yeah that's right! just put on snowlerblades and you'll have the effect dialed. naw...skiing without poles is better than no skiing at all.

i was readin this i was like wtf no one even likes the idea of no poles? took me forever to realize that its from when i was in first grade ahha
