check out the surf movie campaign 2. the surfing doesnt tie into the story line, but between segments is hollywood segments that all tie together. its fucken funny and its a breath of fresh air in an industry where everyone takes themselves so seriously. every pro surfer and his mother has their own film about them and the majority of the time its just like one 40 minute segment of that surfer.
risk sports like, skiing, surfing, skateboarding, snowboarding, biking, freestyle mx, etc. are serious sports. the risks involved are intense and the athletes which partake in these sports are just as talented as any athlete in any other distinguished sport. however all of these sports were born out of rebellion for the norm. the people who started them were considered punks and rebels. i can assure you everyone started these sports because they are fun. for me the documentation of the sports should show that. i want to see the heavy risk, the life or death situation, but i want to see the late night antics on a day off heliskiing in the AK. i want to watch pros be themselves and shows the good times they have riding. much like the robot food movies, or the old whiskey series or the wildcat films. show and prove was a step in the right direction showing the lives of the athletes and the subject matter wasnt fun topic, and tanner seems like an intense guys who gets shit done when it comes to skiing. the thing that makes me the most inpired is people having a good time. movies these days shows the stomped trick but leave out the hoots and hollers. i dont care if its ridiculous cinema worthy footage. a handycam on a pow days for a few shots just to show the interation between a bunch of riders stoked to be out skiing pumps me up way more then the matrix styled shots of the msp. i think future releases by the bigger picture and movies like "the idea", are going to really breath new life into our stagnant film industry. just like amateur releases end up being some of the most talked about films of the season. i wore out my burger time vhs because i watched that movie so much. anyways keep making movies, any new ideas are good ideas.
