Would you give up skiing?

Probably can find some sand dunes to ski down in Israel ha ha. I have lots of hobbies that I have devoted many years to. Lots of times its been a trade-off between them, with me in the last five years really digging skiing more then ever, and putting the other stuff somewhat on the backburner. Taking my military entrance exam in less then 2-days....just make it a point to go back to what you love and ski when you can (when your old and get a free pass, when you get leave etc...).

Ya man. I might be moving across the world this upcoming year for work and it's a possibility I might be going somewhere without. It will always be a part of your life though.

Skiing is one of the few things in life which make me truly happy. Whenever I'm in the mountains I get this warm feeling that the world is still alright and I become deeply grateful for just being here and experiencing this moments with me friends right now.

I never won't that feeling to go away or stop.

family

or if i got a really high paying job down south.... so i could use the money for tons of trips =)

false, i stopped skiing after i ate shrooms, ive never had the same interest as before. its annoying but whatever, i picked up new interests

if it werent for rich american jews funding israel, we wouldn't be having nearly as many issues in the middle east as we do. You probably think Bernie Madoff is goPr

The only situation that I could think of where I would give up skiing would be if I could become an F1 driver. Since that's probably never going to happen, I can't see myself giving it up.

well... i plan on basing the rest of my life around it... so hopefully i never have to stop

I chose to spend my winter in Texas for an internship that will help me get a job that allows me to ski 3-4 days a week for the rest of my foreseeable future. I had to look at the big picture and suffer through my first season of less than 100 days of skiing in my adult life (I only skied 10 days).

Fuck the haters, if you are willing to give up something you love to fight and possibly die for something you believe in that's more honorable than anything else you can do. I respect this.

At this point: no fucking way.

As much as I like doing other things, the feeling I get from skiing is on a whole different level.

Yes, and I wouldn't feel bad about it at all. I love skiing, but there are thousands of things that give me joy in life. I don't ski as much as I used to since I've been working the past 8 years and yet I still find other sports or other activities as fun as skiing. There's a lot to do out there, don't get locked down to a single thing.

before answering this you should be required to state your age.

myself: 22 years old, graduating next year.

do i love skiing? absolutely, its one of the reasons i moved half way across the country. but there are more important things in life than skiing. no question about it.

would i turn down an amazing opportunity that would involve taking a temporary absence from skiing? of course not.

From age 18-26 I was a full time ski bum. Not just Northern Hemisphere season, but also Southern Hemisphere. I skied an average of almost 300 days a year. This is (probably) more than a lot of NS'ers have skied in their lives, so I dont expect them to understand when I say Im happy that I'm now living in a city, studying law, starting my new life with my girlfriend (soon to be wife), surfing heaps during the summer and enjoying a break from skiing. I think when I go back to skiing I wont take it for granted as much and I will enjoy it much more.

Know how I know your twelve?

Welcome to real life, its not like the ski movies where everyone just skis all day, at some point, most people have grow up and have to make a living, sometimes that means sacrificing ski time. I'm not saying everyone quits skiing when they get older, but just b/c this guy has to do what he's gotta do doesn't mean he is any less of a "true skier"

Probably not. I'd tone it down tremendously due to chronic health problems or if my knees went to shit but I'd never give it up.

I hear ya man. I am in the process of leaving the sport I have loved so much. Been doing it for about 10 years now. Still have my collection of PBP movies all the way back to Ready, Fire, Aim (best ski flick ever). I do not know why but this past winter was 0 fun for me on skis. Nothing really changed at my resort. If anything shit got better. However, I am graduating college in about 1.5 weeks and am ready to move on. Hopefully one day I will want to get back into skiing. However, until then I will just go do my thing.

it really comes down to this for me...

You might not ski 75+ days a year, but once a skier, always a skier. just because you don't ski doesn't mean you would give up skiing, you would still think about it, and that to me is why I ski I always think about it
