oh really...so the war is so bad right now that the american casualties list is running so high that they need women to fight in combat?

well i bet some stupid bitch would be like OMGAWWWWDDDD YOU PREJEDUST NOT LETTIN WOMAN FIGHT IN THE WAR!!

I WANNA FIGHT!

but she'll be some big fatty tank like rosy o donald

pretty much the dumbest thing I have ever seen and it is in no way relatvant to anything. The people that mad that have to either be emo or really depressed.

no you crazy man.... that's if a war was on the scale of world war 2... duh!!!! I think i would run away to Argentina and hide in the Andes hhehe... I'm so patriotic

dude....everybody who came back from the war, came back pretty fucked up. You want to go and fight, you go and do that. Just kill people cause other people tell you to. Liek a robot, just listening to orders. Look it is not up to the US and the rest of the world to dictate what is "Free" and what is "Not Free." Our perception is very single minded. Do you think EVERYBODY in thew world would want everything to be like the US. I think not.

When Iraq invaded Kuwat, then it was time to do this. Then it was time to kick Sadam out off his throwne. They fucked up. They always do. And why can't the military be a helping force in the world. If there is a war, ground forces will have little to do with anything. Troops will be killed by bombs, Jets, and tanks. Yet there is this massive stocking for war. All i want to do in like is ski, have a familiy, provide for them, and raise some kids if i can.

If i have to drive an Hybrid car to stop global warming to ski, i will. If i have to compost, and recycle to have that future i will. If i have to be poilite/kind to the people around me for that there will be a little less violence in the world, i will. If i have to go to prison because i said no to conscription, or move to another country, just to i can be with my family on this planet a little longer, then i will fucking do it. WAR SOLVES NOTHING. PEOPLE DIE FOR NOTHING.

Good job on taking the argument completely out of content.

Not everyone comes back from a war fucked up. In fact, most people just come back and don't want to talk about it. It is rare you meet someone who is "fucked up" because of war. Yes there are people out there, but the majority that has seen war have not been "fucked up".

Where the hell does the US dictating what is free come into violence in human nature? To quote Larry the Cable Guy "It's like wiping before you poop, it just don't make sense."

War solves plenty of things. The Revolutionary war settled the fact that we would become a nation. The Civil War settled the argument that the South would not succeed. World War II settled Japan's quest for a Pacific Empire. War solves things, it just pays a heavy price. Now it is contestable whether the price is worth it, but war does solve things. It solves a winner and a loser. If people die for nothing, why do they fight? Ask yourself that.

Good point with the revolution. A lot of people in our generation can't grasp an idea of having to 'fight' for what they need, deserve or whatever other reason they might have. Most people nowadays say 'hey, everything's always given to me so why should i fight' [thats if you're an average american who doesn't deal with day to day violence and oppression].

The movie fight club actually brings up that point. We really are the middle children of history. We have no great struggle, no great depression. Our great depression is our lives.

That always inspired me. Where is my life going? Would my life story be a good book? I think thats really a driving force behind my want to do things out the ordinary. Certainly, fighting in a war isn't something you should go out and do just because you want to tell stories when you're older. I'd find it to be a spiritual connection to every other soldier throughout mankind's history. Its like if you fight, you get to experience that same return to animal instincts as your comrad in the foxhole next to you.

That brings up my next reason to fight. Where else will you find true human emotion in as rare a form as during a firefight. Brothers fighting in arms will and against each other, saving lives, ruining others, making desicions that would have you going home in a box, or your sargent lying face down in the chaotic front lines. Most won't experience that kind of life changing experience, but if you do, you possess a kind of wisdom, because you've had life put in perspective in such an intense way, that there's no way you won't be changed, forever.

Essentially, war sucks for everyone, but for those see past the violence and bloodshed, war is just the world working itself out. War doesn't always have to happen, and many times it does when it shouldn't, like WWI for instance. But other times, its the everyone's collective duty to stand up for whats right and just for mankind and thats a war i'd want to fight in.

Man i really don't care. GO head kill people cause you think its right. Im sure it will be an awsome time from what you say. A good ol party at club med's. Like i said, i just want to live my life, and thats it. No fighting, on kill, no political bullshit. No kids thinking that war is the most awsome thing in the world. (welcome to the xbox generation) Soo tell me this, if the war in iraq was for a good reason, why are the people they are saving killing the troops.

Im not a pussy.... ill fuck shit up.... but im not going to war and dying at a young age....i see that to be pointless... im moving to canada if for som reason there's ever a WWIII

Can you read? Stop fucking taking things out of your ass and trying to make it look like I said them.

I never said killing was right, I never said the war in Iraq was right, and I never said I would have an awesome time in war.

I already have concluded that you cannot grasp any sort of coherent response so I will lay it out for you nice and simple.

War is sometimes necessary.

Killing people isn't "right", but it most be done sometimes. (Do you honestly think it is right to let two men who killed hundreds of people 'Oaklahoma City Bombing' sit in jail and drink Coca-cola while watching TV?)

I understand that you are a complete pacifist, but you need to open your eyes and mind a little bit.

Not everyone in Iraq is against the US, just radical Shiites.

If you are trying to hint that video games are creating this facade of war, please just quit any sort of argument in this thread. I have never heard ANYONE say war is the most awesome thing in the world. Stop creating a false sense of mental security in your arguments.

Every continent has that history if you count Byzantine empire wars for 1100 years. Which mostly took place in Rome and Greece.

Europe has been in turmoil far longer than that. Africa has the same history. The Mongolian and Chinese wars lasted a very long time, as did Southeast Asian conflicts. Australia is clean because that is only one country, but a lot of those wars were not on full burden like they are today.

Plus for the most part I thought you were talking about today's problems being linked to thousands of years ago, because they really aren't. In a way yes, but mostly not.

Please never say "pwnage" in a political/semi-intelligent debate, it makes you sound like an idiot.

No area in the globe has seen the battles that the middle east has. They have been fighting over there since the middle east was first inhabited. The Egyptians, Assyrians, and Babylonians took it to a whole new level. Then of course the Greeks, followed by the romans stepped it up even further. And we're only half way there. This is only the traditional warfare. The middle east has been undergoing Guerilla warfare since the dawn of time. No one can seem to fully finish the other off.

The people of western europe and asia were practically swinging from trees while they were fighting in the fertile crescent. Although asia's history is on a basically different timeline and really begins around 1600 BC or so. Xia dynasty i believe. Which is still about 1000 years later. The fertile crescent contains the oldest actual civilizatons in the world.

Actually states in China appeared about the 3rd millennia BCE. Also, let's think of where the Roman's and Greek states are located...Europe. Europe has seen many more wars than the Middle East has. That is an intransigent fact.

Please refer to my previous 3rd paragraph again. Thank you.

thats because youre a pussy and i sure hope u live in canada,if u live in the u.s. you should consider yourself lucky enough to even express your opinion, fight for your freedom you overprivelaged hippie.

there ya go....a wonderful concervative view. Well you do what your stupuid ( literaly, he is extreamly unintelligent), ignorant ( went to war regardless of false information) president tell you to do. I would much rather be alive and be a pussy, then be a dead tough guy. Go bully some little kids now, i am sure that will make you feel like a real man.

That is correct. Asia started to develop around 3000 BC. The first organized civilization began around 2000 BC. But if you want play that card... The Nile Valley was originally inhabited around 10000 BC. Agricultural organization and building began around 6000 BC. The states were finally united into a 2 kingdoms around 3500 BC. The period of the pharoahs began around 3300 BC and the kingdoms were brought together. Mesopotamia began to be inhabited and farmed around 6000 BC. Summarian civilization began around 4000 BC.

DNA anthropolgy has traced the origins of Homo Sapien existance to a region of central africa. And as the population grew humans spead first in North Africa and then Mesopotamia and Asia Minor. My anthro professor required everyone to watch the National Geographic documentary, "The Origin of Man". Very interesting film.

And as far as your third paragraph above. Todays problems in the middle east are definitely rooted thousands of years ago. One word: Religion.

Ancient Egypt under went many changes between monothesism and polytheism. And also underwent many civil wars.

In anacient mesopotamia the religion was polytheistic. The Assyrians and Babylonians fought over a chief diety when there was a movement to monotheism after Hammurabi influence. Assyrians believed in Assur and the Babylonians believed in Marduk. Assyrians eventually conquered Babylonnia and destroyed the statue of Marduk.

And this doesn't even touch the religious conflicts that arose (and are still present) with the rise of Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Religious turmoil has plagued the region since it was first culturalized. This is the underlying cause.

I will say that the Roman Conquests involved mostly "Europe". But to say that it didn't great affect the middle east is a lie. And take a look at the Greco-Macedonia empire. It barely even makes it west of the Adriatic. It completely involved Asia Minor and the Middle East with the Persians. You can't use "Europe" very losely. When "Europe" is discussed it normally refers to the wester portions during and after the Roman Empire.

i wouldn't fight unless someone invaded canada. and i wouldn;t vote to send other canadians into some dumb war - which is what it would be. i would vote for ceasing trading with any countries involved. like grow up you little bitches war doens't make anything better.

btw, the middle east is not its own continent. and africa, north america and south america do not have the massive violence that asia and the middle east have had. the middle east has been full of war ready tribes for thousands of years.

what?

you responded to me saying that women are not allowed in combat fighting by saying that "At this point they would draft women"

then I responded by pointing out that the american death toll is nowhere near what would be needed to bring in women to combat.

how bout this. everyone stop making threads about wwIII because its not going to happen and its straight up annoying

take a history course sometime. isolationism won't work in today's world.

to quote that article:

"North Korea should spend its money on feeding the millions of starving citizens. India should continue to nurture its growing technology industry. Pakistan should work at democratization, and become a model not only for the Muslim world, but the entire world. China should realize it’s can’t continue on its path of oppression and restriction, and work on a positive and cooperative relationship with America. Who says we have to fight to be superpowers?"

when you have fucked up asshole regimes like North Korea and China continuing on their paths, eventually something will have to be done about it. Ahmet (or is it Giray) - do you have any idea what the North Korean government does to its people? If you did, you'd understand why it just may be worth getting in a war.

Why is there a lot of anti-American sentiment in the world? Is it because we're all assholes? Maybe a little bit. But is it because many countries brainwash their citizines, don't allow dissent, and keep the western media out (aka the great firewall of china)?

In a world with a population of ~6.5 billion people, you should not have country with over a billion people, roughly a sixth of the world's population run by a corrupt oppressive communist regime that forces cruel 9th month abortions on people, blocks what they can read or say, and makes people dissapear or tortures them for things they say.

umm, sorry, wrong. africa has ridiculous amounts of violence. for a recent example, watch hotel rwanda. that shit goes on in many different african countries all the time. it got real bad during clinton's first 4 years if i remember right.

should I even be surprised?...Well I think (meaning that I actually use the mass between my ears) that if you were to watch your buddies or perhaps even yourself torn to pieces by a shell, watching the intestines bulging out through the ripped up uniform, mixing with dirt; all this while twitching violently and screaming for help like a newborn, completely helpless and with the knowledge that without some serious miracle...your buddy will die a very painful and violent death...you would probably piss your classy undies and run for cover like any being with preserved basic instinct for survival would.

you can adjust the story to chemical weapons or even radioactive burns.

haha, now that was a little funny...But I don't think I'd fight either. What was the point of shooting at people again? I didn't really get that
