Would you fight?

During world war II the jews were oppressed along with the people in the countries that Germany conquered. The Iraqi people were oppressed because they didnt have freedoms, such as freedom of speech. They couldnt do like the French are revolt because Saddam controled his secret police and military. The King of France didnt have a secret police and didnt have a strong control over the military.

And dont even fucking say that Afganistan is a mess. I know a 2 star general who was in Afganistan and it is so much better that it was pre 2001. Canadian forces are joining american forces in Afganistan. America is still doing the majority of the fighting.

well, no offense, but i don't see how we're defending our freedom, (assuming you're american)i hate when people say the soldiers in iraq are defending american freedom right now, because they aren't. those guys get all my respect for having the balls to fight, but in my opinion, they're not defending us...they're doing something better-they're giving others what we have...freedom.

If there was a need, i'd go fight, but i'm not going to go down and join the marines for nothing

When other countries have freedom and democracy, they pose less of a threat to the countries that do have freedom and democracy

I will not go fight for the United States. India and Pakistan HGave nothing to do with my freedom, North Korea has nothing to do with my freedom, China has nothing to do with my freedom. I will not fight for a country that prevents it's citezens from getting cheaper medicine from canada because it is "unsafe" but continues to mass produce all the ingredients for meth without restriction. I will not fight for a country that adds viagra to medicare instead of using my tax money towards education. I will not fight for a country that contemplating outlawing the burning of it's flag. This country will not stop my free speach. Nothing is more patriotic than protesting something unjust, and trying to improve things. I will not defend a country that keeps gay people from living their lives in peace together. I will not live in a country bent on making racism important, so the poor won't turn againt the rich. I will not defend a country that beefs up its military instead of feeding it's poor. The U.S. is no different than south korea. Who gains from a war? The weapons manufacturers, the oil companies, and the people that invest in them. I will not fight for this country, and standing up for what I believe in is more patriotic than going and fighting for something I don't believe in.

according to the Navy recruiter, any plate/screws/surgeries are OK to join the services, as long as you've been cleared for sports.

Ummm, If yo uare saying the US got into it for no reason, you are absolutely wrong. The US tried to remain isolated, but the Germans sunk 2 of our ships and the Zimmerman note was discovered. WW1 was a good choice by Wilson. He tried as hard as he could to avoid it, but when they sunk an American cruiseliner, that was the end of that.

To all the blind haters of the military and all that soldioring stands for:

Temporary Military service does a hell of a lot to open peoples eyes and make them more sensitive to the cause of the military. Its not just a matter of joining, going to war and fighting. For the time your involved its simply a lifestyle, you learn to understand that people dedicate their lives to the service of national protection and you learn to appreciate some of the rhymes and reasons for the things that go on in our world. Now Mind you I'm Canadian, but my dads retired army, my stepmoms still in, and my brother has recently joined, so i support the government and what it does. Politicians get elected and make decisions for a reason, and they know a hell of a lot more then any of us do about the descisions they are making. Granted, it is our civic duty to scrutinize these descisions, but in all honesty were all guilty in the luxuries we enjoy and the freedom we take for granted. It has been military action and criticized governmental politicking that has gotten us to the world we enjoy today, so as we wake up care free and wax our skis in anticipation of next season, who are we to criticize the actions that our military and government take.

You had a good point until that last sentence. Who were the colonists to question Britian's abundant taxation against them? Who were the French to question their government? Honestly, if we didn't criticize the government, we would not have the freedoms we have today. you must understand EVERYONE makes mistakes, and criticism is the best tool to fix that. If we weren't able to criticize, we wouldn't have a say in teh government, and it wouldn't be a democracy.

That pretty much sums up that fate of mankind in one sentance.

As for me, I'd like to say I'd go fight and die, but it would have to depend if I had the balls when the time came.

No violence is human nature, so unless all humans are gay, violence is not gay. Everyone is violent, there is no avoiding it.

without violence, your enemies could live forever.

sometimes war is nessecary, but not this time. if WWIII starts, it'll be just as pointless as WWI.

i dont like war...i just like halo2

now if aliens took over the world i fight them

because they dont talk all funny they just tele port there thoughts

hahaha you militaristic fucks always make me laugh. especially since you call yourselves patriotic.

dude.....you have no idea what your talking ABOUT at all. You are talking out of you ass.........again. You have never went to war, and i am sure you would be the last to go. I am NOT going to fight in a stupid war. There is no need for war these days. I would participate in peace-keeping,humanitarian aid, but not war. Go ahead, ask ANY veterain what they think of war, and killing people. Ask them if it is worth it. Cause i ask my grand pa about the war, he crys his eyes out. I guess seeing your best friends blown to pieces must do that to you.

I am 100% certain that you would not be able to handle war. I am 100% certain that no human on this planet was made to handle war. You know what, ask someone to blow up you parents to pieces in front of you, and have they die slowly, if you can handle that, then you know A LITTLE bit of what war is like.

Ohh, and BTW the reason i ski, is because i love it, it is the only thing i can do right. A sence of community and friendship brings me back everytime. The rush is a sideffect, i would not even mind skiing green circles for the rest of my life.

Now i think your mom is calling you, i guess you have not fucked her for a while. Might want to get on that, she might not let you have breakfast with Jermain tomorrow if you don't.

No need for war these days, when was there a need for war? Almost every war in the past was fought because of greed and ignorance. Not all people are like your grandpa, you can't generalize all humans into a category based on one person's reactions to things.

You'd be surprised wha tbeing placed in a war could do. Almost everyone can "handle" war. There were a lot of 9 year olds and teenagers in the Civil War. People placed in desperate situations can handle what their instincts tell them to do, so in reality war is somewhat in our instincts.

I don't see any relevant correspondence to blowing up your parents in front of you and being in war. That was a horrible and disguisting comparison and was totally inaccurate.

Atlantaski is right, war is a rush for some people. Just because you hate it so much doesn't mean all humans do. War IS the ultimate rush, and although I would never paratke in it solely for pleasure, some people do.

Your narrow vision makes you sound like an idiot, open your eyes and mind.

I know you're all gung ho and shit, so i'll lay this on you as easily as possible... the majority of those conflicts mentioned in the article do not directly involve the US. So basically you would be fighting for um... economic or national/international political reasons... not "our freedom". A word that is thrown around in defense of US military agression on a daily basis.

Any war that a country voluntarily enters, does not involve their "freedom".

Actually I'm not gung-ho at all. I HATE war, I refuse to shoot a gun (never have), and I'd do anything possible to avoid going to war; but there are times when it's necessary. Not saying this one would be necessary; I'm saying 'if it got to that point.

hahaha while I was writing it I was wondering if you would do an anger management reference.

But I think my point still stands, seeing as it's a movie.

Freedom is not right its is a luxury, and it is easy to take liberty for granted, when you have never had it taken from you.

If a war breaks out tomorrow I will fight if required. I would prefer not to join the Canadian Forces because I know I am not cut out for it, although if my freedom is in jeopardy I will do what is necessary to preserve it.

"In the truest sense, freedom cannot be bestowed; it must be achieved." -Franklin D. Roosevelt - a man who knows what he is talking about.

Well I think Ghandi knows better than both of those. Those two presidents don;t know what it's like not havign freedom, so there.

violence is inherent, but that does not make it neccesary. if everyone was peaceful then there would be no need for war or violence. now, obviously that would be a utopia, and will never happen, but wouldnt it be worth striving for?

No because of what you said, it simply will never happen. If everyone was peaceful, someone would provoke greed which leads to violence. It would be easy for a person to get what they wanted if they used violence and everyone else was peaceful.

I never said violence was necessary, it's human nature. It's in our instincts, get over it.

you and kingarthurs can go over to iraq hate over there but while you are here to fucking whine like a little bitch. you proley dont even watch the news besides the left side news and you proley just listen to what your parents tell you god i hate ppl like you. go kill yourselves

still, another instinct is to disagree with others, and i feel as though i would rather protest than fight in a war, unless i felt as though fighting a war could save lives, which it can, but i dont think the war in iraq is.

my grandfather says war is good as long as it is for the right reason he fought in wwII and vietnam and as much as he hated being there at the moment he was proud to have done it b/c it was for his country

maybe instead of listening to ur grandpa and being whipped, you should think what you want to. i respect peoples ideas, and if they are pro war thats fine, its their opinion, but their is a difference between whining and being active and doing something. know what you talking about before you speak

War hugh, what is it could for

Absolutly nothing

I would never fight in somthing that I dont beleive in.

unless there were enemy soldiers in my homeland.

but that would never happen.

Slowly judgment day will come like in terminator 3

but maybe not in our lifetime.

The computers & Robots & Drones will take over everything

Actually my parents are right conservatives. I think for myself. And if I was going to kill myself I would go to war because someone else would do it for me.
