Would this be good to do a backflip off of?

Ok i know this is super random but would this be goo to try a first back flip off?



dont mind me and my friends in the picture.

It's a litte drop into a big pile of hay, its at this place called "saundra's farm" and its like a haunted house, haunted hay ride and other shit like that and i weant with a bunch of people on friday and happen to be going back next friday with another group of friends ( yea im pretty popular, no big deal. Lol jk jk. But yea im going becak with other people)

Ive done backflips on my ski's on small jumps before, and on diving boards and trampolines but i have never on solid ground so i figured this might be good because the landing in the hay is super soft.

so basically you wanna know if its gonna be a good place to do a backflip because ur going with a lot of people and want to impress them with a backflip, instead of falling and get hurt/laughed at...

it depends on how fast you can spin. some people can rotate faster than others. some people can do it on flat ground, but others need to be on something...when you've done it on a tramp or diving board, have you ever done it w/o bouncing, or has it always been with a bounce? the reason i ask this is bouncing you obviously go up, and have more momentum to spin, where as jumping off something hard, you dont go up so much, if at all. your body kinda sits for a while and rotates around the same point. of coarse this depends on how you backflip, but its the common.
 
Backflips are relatively easy off of flat ground...I'm sure you could pull one around from 3 feet off the ground.

and no i dont want to do the backflip to impress people, it has been my goal to do it on the ground and i thought this is a perfect opprotunity.

and yea i think i could do it because the diving boards i tried them off of were those small ones at backyard pools that have no bounce.
 
dude, if ur gonna do it i hav a little advice

i assume u kno how to do a backflip so im not gonna go through that unless someone wants me to.

my advice: 1) commit, do not chicken out half way through, that will get u very hurt, 2) don't let ur nerves get the better of u, that used to be my biggest prob with tumbling outside of a gym (im still trying to get rid of it completely), and if u start to get nerves, think about how fuckin sick it'll be wen u stomp it. (people go fucking NUTS over backflips) 3) do it quickly, dont stand on it thinking im gonna do it ok 3...2...1... ok hold on 3...2...1... this times for real etc, i used to do that, u'll just psych urself out.

oh yeh, and i forgot to say, afterbang.... well, in a sense. ur friend will be like O SHIT so just kinda brush it off sayin its not that hard. later wen u do it off of really high things or u do it on the ground with ur friends then u can be like YEAH I STOMPED THAT!!! (people think backflips of high things is cooler, but i strongly suggest learning how to do them on the ground too cus then u can throw one wenever where ever)
 
I more related question, can you do it off the side of a pool? If you can do it off of the side of a pool or get close at all then you will be fine.

My biggest problem is I have alot of trouble coming out of my tuck and landing on my feet.
 
my advice to u is to A) try them off like a 6 inch ledge, that way u hav a little extra time so u can work on ur form and u hav extra time to untuck, and it is also not so high that it won't help u on the ground

B) try setting for it more (setting = how late u wait in ur jump to flip) try spotting something a little higher than eye level ( a spot on a wall, a window, a tall friend) what u should do is swing ur arms up JUMP ALL THE WAY THROUGH UR TOES, this will help u get more height (jump straight up), look at that spot for as long as u can then tuck, as soon as u can spot that thing again and try untucking ur legs a split second earlier than u usually do.

if u do this u will also get more height because ur not flipping as early and ur not losing any vertical height in the form of horizontal distance.

Ya man, do it.

I learned to backflip on the ground before I could on skis.

They aren't hard at all, just commit and jump up.
 
I can't focus fast enough to spot my landings, I dunno. Big problem of mine on spins and flips. I just try and do it subconsciously I guess.
 
Im the only one in that picture who has a good possibility, me and that chick have had something going on for a while but were not dating or anything so i guess she's fair game

well this thread turned out pointless because i ended up not going last night. Instead i went to the movies with other ppl.

 
get to it. if you can do it into a pool and everything you will probably have it first shot
 
yeh, then my advice is just try doin everything else, but spotting ur landing.

and consciously try to open up earlier, it may feel weird and u may not make it all the way around (like u almost make it around but u need to use ur hands) but then wen u do them normally again u will open up earlier.
 
the one on the right is fake the other one not so much. And yea they do look like 12 in the pic but they are both 15 going on 16. i think i picked an oldish picture. what ever though.

and yea i think ill just go on my next door neighbours tramp(chick on the right) and try some without jumping
