I probably do equal amounts of photography and videography and im sick of my 550ds poor low light performance and fairly average auto focus. So my question is, is it worth upgrading?
I was thinking about doing that but all the 5d mkii really has over the 7d is the fact that its full frame. And then theres the 5d mkiii which is just so much more expensive.
For video: no, no, no. I would take a T2i any day over the 7D. Once you have ML on your 550d it is a huge improvement over the 7D imo.
And poor low light performance? Have you ever used a normal camcorder? DSLRs have great low light performance. I think any difference in low light as far as the 7D and 550D are concerned would be pretty negligible as far as video goes.
Ah yeah I think I've heard something like that. But I don't know much about how specific cameras handle iso's so I thought I might have been making it up
I do always focus manually for video but im going to be doing a lot of wildlife photography in south africa next month so I was thinking about the better auto focusing of the 7d.
Get faster glass and wait for the 70D / 7D mark II.
What I make up from your flickr (nice photos by the way!) is that you are using a sigma 10-20, kit 18-55 and a sigma 70-300. Those won't give you low light performance nor fast autofocus.
The T3i/600D is pretty much exactly the same for video performance as the 60D. I only picked up the 60D instead because it's a much better camera for stills, and I got a silly deal on it. Other than that, it's the same sensor, noise performance, and mostly everything.
But yes, the 7D is old news and overpriced now for shooting video.
Yeah. I was really only stating the slight differences. the AF on the 60D is way more sensitive and quicker, and the continuous burst rate is a lot better than the t3i.
