Worth goin to stratton?

so with all the rain its getting is it worth coming up sunday, monday, and tuesday. it will only cost me about 100 but will the skiing be any good at all.
 
they have the jump up now, flat box, flat rail, butter box, and im not sure if they left the down box and other flat bar in. it was ok last weekend and they added a bunch more since then.
 
It doesn't seem like stratton cares all that much about their parks, so if you can go to another mountain like okemo or snow, it would be much better. Stratton wouldn't be bad for a day but anything longer than that would get really boring.
 
we pretty much got fucked by this snow...we still have a jump and 2 boxs and a 30 foot flat rail...but i'd stay away for like a week until we can get back from this rain
 
stratton got fucked i was just there an hour ago. only one down box is open. it's soooo shitty, the rain killed the mountain
 
Yeah I was there today. Was pretty bad. It was even worse when all the rails were blocked off but I took the poles out of the down box and no one even said anything and people were hitting it the rest of the day. It was better then what we are seeing here in NY..
 
dude just go to big boulder it has 16 rails/boxes, a tree jib and 5 jumps, 2 of them are kickers around 25-30 ft and the others are kinda smaller beginner jumps

Stratton : 3 hours away + free + 30 trails + long runs + no people

Big bear : 2 1/2 hours away + not free + not long runs + many people

 
yo the box was closed all day until i-7 and I decided to jersey up vermont and be punks and move the two things blocking the hop on to the box. Not even 2 minutes later everybody was sessioning it.
 
yea they demolished their only jump and their one rail is set up pretty horribly. the two boxes aren't bad but that's all they have.
 
Are they still doing the park pass thing for the one box or is that non existent right now? Cause i dotn want to sit through some stupid video just to hit a box
 
I just called their snowphone and they said they only have one rail open now. Is this the truth?

and they don't normally check SES passes for a single rail

 
when i went the other day there was only one rail, the others were closed and they were gay. The one box that was open was sick, and you could hike to it with no problem. Its right to the left of the american express lift.
 
i talked to the park guys and they're opening two parks for the weekend. one beginner/intermediate with a bunch of boxes, rails and a few jumps, and then another advanced park up on lower meadows with the same mix, just bigger.
 
Went on saturday, and it was really warm and soft, and a shitload of fun. 2 jumps, small and decent lips/landings, and a plethora of jibs, all decent. i can't predict what the conditions have been like, but the setups were definitely small and fun. things could be spaced out a bit more, but everything has to be crowded given the current conditions, there's really not much room anywhere on the hill.
 
i just got back from stratton today. the park isnt bad because the jumps actaully throw you quite a bit for an early season park. the park goes flat box then lil flat rail then up to flat rail then choice of up down bown or flat down box into a jump with two lips hit the left one cuz the right one is dangerously short like whoa and then a huge wide flat box into a spine on the right and two lips on a last jump at the end that throw you like whoa. its not bad but might as well work on those corks cuz those jumps will throw you back.
 
fuck stratton they get all this hype about good parks but there jumps suck hairy ass their rails are ok and all the magazines are always like go after the VT open and the park is sick but if i remember correctly thats not even open to the public even though it is so sick i was in it 2 years ago
 
yea they do actually open the park to the public after the VT Open now. Last year was the first year they started doin it, but they're gonna do it every year from now on
 
Just got back from a trip to stratton today which was pretty good cause they got about 11 inches overnight and got a couple of east coast pow runs in this morning before it got tracked out. Tried to look for some by ducking ropes but there was lots of shit under the pow so i headed to the park. Overall I thought the park was pretty sketch. First ther are 2 boxes, an A frame and a flat drop down. those were ok but they were really short and quick. The next jump was probably a 15 footer and was ok but was easy to over shoot. Next was a wide flat box which was ok cept for the steep inrun and lip. then there was a spine on the right but i skipped that because you needed the speed for the last 20 foot table. Sometimes i just skipped the box and straight lined it for the last hit. There was also a long flat box setup under the lift which was actually a lot of fun. It was a real good learning box and long enough for switch ups and stuff too. Hiked that a lot. Only problem was it was open to the public and was next to the lift soo a lot of gapers came through. I guess I had a pretty good day though.
 
well no one has mentioned the 4 jumps that are open on the meadows...they are money for learning new tricks on cause they aren't too big and there is never anyone in there, i think because not many people realize that they are there...check em out cause they are fun

and it seems stratton is trying real hard to change the perception of their parks, meaning that they are maintaining them really well and they have been really fun this year so far
