Worst ski pole related injury

so today i made a trip up to whistler and decided that my ski poles were probably the most dangerous thing on the mountain
first run of the day, going down switch, just chillin and i got lazy. crossed my tips, fell backwards and somehow, SOMEHOW managed to get myself right in the nuts with my ski pole handles

that was a bitch, but later on in the day, around 2ish or so, cruising switch again and hit a patch of heavy snow. crossed tips AGAIN, fell backwards, and BROKE my ski pole on my head. yes i was wearing a helmet but fuck that hurt bad. i bent the fucker 90 degrees and it had a gash from the stress and was just dangling.
pole 2scott 0
i still rocked the old school tod wallnuts no pole steeze and made faces and shouted at gapers but damn, my head hurts

what other funny/painful things have happened to everyone else with their ski poles

i was like 12 and i was skiing at gore. and i went off like this little kicker with a flat landing and stuck my pole in the ground my head like whiplashed forward hit me right on top of my eyelid. i had to get it stiched up. this was like in 2004 haha. i had a mark on my cheek from the screw in the pole.

this didn't happen to me, but it happened to a kid in my hall two days ago.

he fell and was getting up and another kid in his skiing PE class tags him in the mouth with the sharp end of his pole. it cut his gums above is front teeth pretty damn badly.

like two years ago i dropped this cliff into some heavy snow and my pole went really deep into the snow and i keep on going but my pole were stuck and my pole strap were tight and i fucked up my solders muscles.so for like a year i never used straps on my poles and when i was spinningmy pole would fly off me and i lots so many poles haha

well self inflicted is a classic jam the pole into the ground and have it hit me squaw in the nuts...
someone else's own tuition was getting smashed in the back while i was sleeping, left a welt for like at least a month

i guess i have never had anything bad, but like a month ago i got really bad skiers thumb and now everyday i ski i keep on re-injuring it. its weird how it happens on the same thumb everytime.. but damn it hurts

pretty sure this is one of the worst yet

i was doing 2 on to a 6ft box

caught a down hill edge while sliding on the box

i put my hands out to break my headfirst fall into a bowl shaped landing cuase it was so rudded out

my left ski pole was facing horizontaly across my face

i bent my pole to a 90 degree angle across my top row of teeth to the exact shape of the huge rut, and now i have a dead tooth and im supposed to get a root canal for it

Would i be correct in thinking it was the simpsons the rest of it was something like:

"pizzzza....french friy....pizzzza....french fry....if you try to french fry when ur meant to pizzza, your gonna have a bad time" - Something along those lines?

thumb dislocation a few years back (straps), followed by a bad sprain this season (no straps), i'm going to get my poles cut down tomorrow,

peace

Back when i was young i had a ski instructor decided to go off a drop he landed on his poles and jabbed his stomach he had to go to the hospital and had internal bleeding.

i was skiing with some homies and one of my buddies dropped a little 5 footer and landed but his ski pole hit first and impaled his chest...he ended up fracturing his sternum kinda bad but he was able to ski down

I broke my pole in half on my nuts, landed a small small 3, stuck pole in ground hit nuts and broke in half = black mark about 1/2 inch away from my balls on my leg, only the size of a quarter but blacker than night! made me sick to my stomach it hurt so bad.

My dad had splintered a fiberglass/carbon fiber/whatever it was, pole the day before this happened. It was going to be our last day skiing (late spring) when I was younger, and because of this, my dad decided to keep using his same poles and buy new ones next season. Being that I was ready to go, i decided to help unload the car and grab all the poles out. This was a poor decision, and i had about a cm. wide shard that was still attached to the pole go through my gloves, through my finger, out the other side of my finger and out of my glove. Basically, the shard went all the way through my finger and i could hold the pole up without actually gripping it. Needless to say, I had to snap the shard that was through my finger from the pole, and have it removed. When I went to get it removed they gave me two options. I could either have it taken out (which apparently causes immense pain) or have it numbed up first and then removed. I decided to have it numbed up, which didnt work, so when they came back they asked me again if i wanted to get more shots and numb it more, or just have it taken out. At this point (being afraid of needles at the time) I had them remove it without it being numb and it was probably the most painful experience of my life.

lmao

i was riding pipe

and pipe at this one hill is pure shit

you get one hit that you don;t case

and i did it but i was going really fast and totally forgot

So i was about 5 feet out when i realized i m goin to case this.

And i did

i got throw to flat and somehow my pole dug into the ground and the handle hit me in the kneck

bent the pole in half

And fucked up my wind pipe

Havn;t rode with baskets since that.

i was watching that ski patrol show on trutv or whatever channel it is. and some kid did a 720 off a kicker and got his pole stuck in his neck. he had to be airlifted out to a hosptial. im pretty sure the kid turned out to be ok.

one time my friend came up bvehind me and stuck his pole between my legs, trying to avoid this painful joke a tried to grap and remove the pole from this sensitive area. As i went to grap the pole my poles dug into the ground causing me to run my groin straight into them and do a frontflip right over them landing on my back in much pain

yeah the same thing happened to me with landing switch and the tips crossing but the end result was a nose bleed so not that bad

Yeah, a ski pole went through my whole body cutting me in half and the surgeons somehow fixed me.....lol nah, for me, just came out of a rail and somehow stuck my pole in the ground as I landed and cut my lip. Kinda caught me off guard but no big deal.

a couple years ago my friend was just getting into freestyle, and he went for a 3 and ended up landing at 270, his pole planted into the snow and his chest causing him to puncture his lung, he spent like 4 days in the hospital

I was screwing around riding switch and caught an edge throwing me backwards and my head hit my pole which was on the ground. This was before I wore a helmet and it gave me a nice little cuncussion.

yea i read the thread few weeks ago, some snowboarder hit a kid well going fast and the basket pierced through his pants and through his sack, the whole basket through his sack, dayyum

worts accident by poles must be that when i was on skielevator i had the pole in my hand and then i almost dropped it down and it stucked in snow and then pole went to my nuts and my poles are made of aluminum so my legs went to air and all of my weight was on my nuts withs were on pole. And that hurt if you get what i tryed to say.

at WV last year on my birthday [3 more days!] and i overshot this little jump and i waas using pole that were too big for me. yeah pole hit the ground first, and i continue to punch myself right in the trachea [sp?] hurt like a BITCH

fuck some of these sound fucking painfuli caught an edge coming down into the flat in the pipe a few years ago, right pole stuck in the ground and the handle smashed me in the mouth, bottom tooth went through my lip! So lucky i didn't lose a tooth or something.

I was sitting on my heel pieces of my bindings, going rather fast, and had my poles out in front of me. Bad idea. My left pole hit the ground, and shot up into my face. I did have a helmet and goggles, but i still had a bruise the shape of the left side of my goggle on my face for a day or two.
