Worst Ski Injuries

Wondering what everyone's worst injuries or wipeouts were out on the hill this past season? Landed on my head in a mogul field airing out and almost broke my neck this last season. Almost broke a few ribs getting bodied by a tube too

It was the best snow fall in years. We drove to the near resort and I was so fucking hyped to finally ski some deep snow! Unfortunately it was flatlight. On the first damn run I skied to some bump, hit my knee on my jaw, broke a couple of teeth and fucked up my tongue. It didn't hurt that much but I lost a shitload of blood and passed out during the ride to the nearest hospital.

Tore my ACL and partial tear on the MCL, fractured the top of the Fibia(right leg) all while making a left turn off a small hit. My right foot just tweaked to the right as I was jumping off and it popped like a rubber band and when I landed it smacked pretty hard. Didnt go down but I was hurtin for certain, was able to make it to the parking lot and drive myself home. 7 weeks after the surgery, I feel like I could go skiing now but the graph is not healed so I have to hold off from about every active activity over the summer.

cork sev in mineral off a side hit and didnt check the landing before hand. ended up landing right on some great fucking sharp ass rocks, and no lie they ripped a fat hole in my bibs and my lulu underwear :'(. yaaaaaaa broke my tailbone and had some phat bruising

I broke my pride once. Doctor said it was one of the worst he'd ever seen. Recommended therapy and self help books, but told me there was little chance I'd ever be the same. Even a few beers in, blasting hip hop bangers, I still feel a bit lost in this world.

I'd say my head inuries are the worst though. they've had the biggest impact on life. I cracked a vertebrae and my femur once, but I was 17 and even though I didn't let it heal right, I bounced back easily.

My knees and back will probably kill me in the end. I'd say that and head injuries are what Im most concerned about.

Damn, keeping you and your pride in my bedtime prayers.

Thank you. One day I hope to make a full recovery and share the story with the world. It's hard to talk about it sometimes but my therapist says it's good to get my feelings out sometimes.

ill start this off by saying im not good at hitting jumps.... i got 2 decent ones this year.

1) went for a cork 10, landed thug zone still off axis and whiplashed my head real good

2) caught tips setting hand drag 7 off knuckle, caught edge at 630 halfway down landing, whiplashed head again

safe to say im down several more IQ points

Got super barred out and drunk and went down on some random kids snowboard (ski boots still on) on my stomach super man style down a double black and hit a snow making machine going 40 mph. Had to be airlifted off the mountain and ended up rupturing my adrenal gland causing a hematoma the size of my entire stomach which turned it straight black. In a wheel chair for 6 months and sparked a savage opioid addiction for the next 4 years. I killed it on that one.

Jesus man hope the recovery went alright, those snow machine will get you, in the east they have so many of those in the trail. Those things are a hazard

Caught my tips last year after under-rotating a backie into what I thought was deep powder, but was maybe only 20cm max and then ice underneath.

My only initial symptoms were a nasty nosebleed and a sore neck and shoulders, whiplash basically. Nothing too bad.

Fast-forward 18 months, my neck and shoulders still ache and my upper muscles are super tight, I feel this pretty much 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and have done since the accident.

I've tried physio & chiropracticy, nothing has solved it. I feel like I have to accept I've now got chronic whiplash and will probs have to live with this for the rest of my life. I'm 26 but every morning when I get out of bed I feel like I'm 50 as I can barely move my upper body. I probably stretch 10x a day to try and release the tension.

Thankfully it hasn't stopped me skiing or biking, or any sports for example, It's not exactly a life changing injury like some of the above, but the fact that it's constantly there, even ask I type this message, really gets me down sometimes.

Can take years to recover if nerves were involved dont get your head down. I messed my neck up and thought I was done forever after 1 year of constant pain with certain exertion. 4 years later I have no problems.

That's a little uplifting...thanks. Did you do a lot of physio or chiropracticy?
