with all the talk about how this years movies stepping it up over last years movies i got to ask, was there ever a year were people felt there was not a step up and it was just more of the same? In the past 8 years what was the worst year for movies?
That's a very good question, its hard to say, each year there is always one or a few companies that step it up so its very hard to say, you would have to look at each film company in its own.
It's more along the lines of the past years having only a few films that stood out from the crowd where as this year all the films stand out and look amazing.
i'm pretty sure the quality has been stepped up every year in the past 8 years, there has to be at least one company that boosted something each season.
I would say that last season and the season before were not very good years for ski movies. Last year offered a little bit more than the year before, but this year absolutely destroys last year by comparison.
Yea, LSS was the only really good movie 2 years ago IMO
I dont think its really possible for skiers to "hate" a ski movie. thats why its hard to think of a year when i wasnt jacked for the new films. Every year the new movies come out with new tricks, new location and new people to be excited about so of course every year feels like it is better than the last.
The year of yearbook, x=ten, high five, was not that great as far as progression goes. High five was good, but Im not a fan of x=ten or yearbook. All that happened was iannick b's 360 sw up and candides cork 810 to rail.
I think the point isn't that there was a bad movie year but this year the production quality, stories, and general feel was a much bigger step forward than in years past.
As Berman said in the pre-awards interview, "Ski movies have really arrived"
This year I've been more stoked for ski movies than any years in the past even though the level of skiing hasn't really gone up there's like 8 movies I want to buy.
hunting yeti is nibus's this year's film. it seems like last year because the webisodes, but the ful release just came out with all the other 08 movies
I agree, x=ten wasnt that great, yearbook at the time was ok but now looking back it wasnt good at all, red tape wasnt great, high 5 was really the only good one.
I've always thought push was good, and anomaly was a good one from that year as well. LSS is one of my favorites for sure. Mainly because of stefans opening seg. Realtime was sick also, but i think lss is better. I hear Turbo is gonna be epic though. STOKED
the thing about this year is its taken a HUGE leap in progression and just overall filming and production value. its hard to tell the pro movies from the am ones for me (im no expert tho)
