Worst fail you've ever seen or heard of

So I was hiking the east wall of Abasin, to ski the 2nd notch. If you’ve never heard of it, it’s an inbounds couloir with a super narrow entrance. Anyways this guy hikes up in front of me and decides to boot down the narrow section. He looses his footing and ends up rag dolling down the entire thing. Luckily he was “ok” but that was hands down the haviest crash I’ve ever witnessed.

This was me a while back, I've sent it much bigger to flat but this one (and another hit to the head the next day) gave me a concussion that lasted 6+ months and ended my season. I kicked my ski off mid air and just collapsed when I landed, and I guess I hit my head cause I was pretty dazed. The next day I was in a mogul comp, went to fast, lost control and went to big off a jump and when I landed I started tomahawking and smashed the back of my head completely through a mogul.

Another time I was just mobbing through the park on small mogul skies that were mounted 4 cm back, and there was two down rails separated by stairs and I decided to jump the stairs but went way to big and took off back seat. I suitcased on to a flat sheet of ice and thought I had died because everything was red for like 2 minutes and I couldn't breath. Very thankful my friend was there to calm me down

So for me personally I was up at Birkshire East this past season and I have no memory of how it actually happened but I fell to my head cracking my smith maze in half. Pretty nasty concussion from that one.

Worst I’ve ever witnessed was a crash my dad responded to (patrol) where a skier was making her way over a roller and was out of line of sight. A snowboarder took the roller hot and his board hit her in the back of the neck. This one resulted in a snapped brain stem.

Another one was a kid about 6 was on a green and ended up out of control and crashed Into a tree. This was a midshaft femur break and was a compound fracture so his bone was completely out of his leg.

Last one I’ve seen happened on the same trail as the lady who passed away, it was a teenage girl who crashed into a lift tower at the bottom of the trail and shattered her pelvis.

Working close with patrol has its perks and downfalls but you see some nasty shit on a daily basis.

Me and my best friends were snowboarding in the woods behind one of our houses, built a jump, my friend tried a double backflip and drifted too far to the right, hit his head off a half fallen down tree on his second rotation. Ambulance came and went straight to the hospital. He passed away a week later. Saddest time of my life. RIP

No I don’t think that lmao I’m just sayin it’s messed up how you get THAT fucked up off that small of a jump. 20 feet isn’t that big at all.

I hear what you’re saying man, but I’ve seen people break arms, collar bones, dislocate elbows and shoulders from literally side jumping lips for like 10” tall ride on flat boxes.

People and their bodies are insanely fragile, it’s kind of crazy to come to understand that.

I had a pretty fucking bad one this year at Carinthia. Junkyard park skiers right there was a propane / barrel feature sitting high up with a long landing on the wood line... I came in fast for a lip slide that I was just planning to shifty to switch out of. I caught edge immediately, something I wasn't expecting @ all since I had hit it probably 15 times prior with no instance where I felt stickiness or anything. I flew way down into the flats right to my side, it was a firm east coast day too. Gave a thumbs up to the lift spectators while trying to get my air back. Holy fuck I was sore the next day after that one.

this was my season ender this year, worst crash ive ever had. Somehow just managed to get my speed completely wrong on my first straight air of the XL line that day. Kicker to knuckle was about 50ft an i flew about 30ft past the knuckle almost to flat.

Snapping a brain stem?

Holy fuck

working park crew this winter we rolled up on a lady who dislocated both knees sending the entrance of the park to flat seconds before we got there. She was in so much pain she could barely talk, and was stuck in this awkward position. Her 14 year old daughter was trying to tell her she would be alright and she immediately replied “ITS NOT ALRIGHT!!!” We we’re able to calm her down a bit till patrol got there but they only had one splint, and even when they got another moving her into the sled sucked
